    Yep.

Be the hatch you want to see on the water. Ghandi said that.

Just so happens this months Fly Fisherman Mag had a good tute for a stimmy.

I tied some up on size 12 hooks, wanted to start with the larger to get a feel for the pattern.
What sizes do you usually tie ???

Do you ever tie them with the rubber legs ??

Here's my first 3. Too big ?? any critiques greatly appreciated.

Bings, the proportions are a little off in the middle photo, but that's nit picking, it'll catch fish. Pic. #3 looks perfect amount of brown to grizzly hackles. #12 is a size I use alot on them too. And #8. Some tie them smaller, I'd just use an elk hair caddis if I'm going smaller.

    Cold,
What kind of reel were you using?
    Nice brookie.

Bings, those look awesome! I tie and fish mostly 12 & 14, though with the specific brands/styles of hook I use, there's a lot of size variance within that. Similar to D-Nymph, though a size smaller...I'll tie stimmies down to 14, but smaller than that, I'll just use an EHC. I never use rubber legs on mine. Extra weight, drag, material (and material waste), vise time, and it's a material that can get weird in temperature extremes (ie. turning to goo on a dashboard, drying and cracking, etc). I might consider using them for larger stims, but for the small ones, the brookies dont care, so I dont bother.

D-Nymph, thanks...and a Sage 3100. Good thing it had killer drag or I'd have never landed that beast.
