Millvale Bait and tackle

Looks like Jesse was lucky to leave when he did as last weeks wind storms knocked the trailer off the blocks and damaged it. Unfortunate situation with a bright side

When was the last time that place was open? Always seemed to be closed to me.

Where do guys in the city get bait and tackle? Are there even any baitshops left? They seem to be fewer and fewer across the state as a whole.

Or 1 1/2 hours if going after work... 28 sucks during rush hour.

I don't know of any bait shops within a 10 mile radius of downtown (Neville might be as the crow flies). There are some Co-Gos with cannabaits. Lures seem to work just as well most of the time. The gulp or powerbait minnows/grubs ect. work great at times too. Netting up shad when they are around can be unbeatable.

The whole bait business in general is not a money maker (unless fishing destination like Erie or ocean). Most of the other guys are doing the angling crowd a favor being open, just barely making ends meet. If you can fight the urge to save a few bucks on tackle/lures from Wallyworld, ect. it helps them stay open. With this winter being so mild, most took a huge hit from the lakes not keeping ice. Although, probably not as much so, at the ones focused mainly on rivers. But they do supply the local ice crowds that buy bait then head out. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more out of business signs around this year.

Ones that I know of, besides mentioned. None are very convenient to Pgh, unless fishing near them.

    North - North Park
South - Tackle Unlimited (on 51 before Elizabeth bridge)
South - Shad Lure - close to Tackle Unlimited - off of 51 in West Elizabeth

Ya it's always Lock 3 for me. Downtown to Harmerville SUCKS during the PM rush for sure !! I like live bait and have decided on a bait tank for this year because of the lack of close options to buy.
