Hog Hunting in Panama City,FL

My buddies did it near Naples a few years ago, they said it was more "hog slaughtering" than "hog hunting."

I'm sure you could find a couple "hogs", but it might take some looking

Girlfriends dad put some on the grill last summer. It was wild, and really tasty.

Wild feral pigs are good as long as there young and if you shoot a cut boar. I hunted in the south a several times hogs around 100-125 lbs are the best. The local trap young piglet and cut the boars and then release them.I still hunted big pine blocks and hunted with my friends catch dogs they just go in and stick them with a big buck knife while the dogs hold them. I passed on that,shot some with a bow and lost a big one due to a shoulder shot. I shot most of them in the head with a 22 mag.We had big cook outs and did them on outside spits,made out of a old mangle motor. One hour per 10 lbs of pig. Rub them down with olive oil and course ground black pepper,cut slits and shove cloves of garlic though out the meat,stuff the body different fruit and veggy or chickens and sausage.Every 1/2 hour paint with olive oil,and drink a beer. Good stuff.

Having a blast down here in Fl! No hog killing yet been listening every night havent heard anything yet. Weather has been cold though low 70's if were lucky with overcast. it is suppose to warm up the next couple nights. we are fishing a pier tomorrow and then fishing again on thursday. gonna snorkel and swim with dolphins tomorrow(gf's choice lol) and look at alligators on friday. i will report back how we do.

We slayed the spanish mackeral and i caught 2 sting ray.. Broke on a giant redfish on my 6# line. What a blast though

Its VERY good. Had gone down to Georgia on a friends lease to help clean up some hogs a few times several years back. Favorite way to eat' em is the backstraps roasted whole, which are basically the same as store bought pork loin. They are VERY tender when roasted. Not stringy like storebought, very nice texture. Taste basically the same. Oddly a bit more tender. LIked to leave a thin coat of fat on the top, similar to store bought...make slits all over to put halved cloves of garlic, put on some salt and garlic salt on top. Maybe an inch and a half of water in the roaster. Put lid on and cook for 3 hourse on around 325. Add cut up carrots & taters half way through.

Also, wild hog ground for sausage is pretty darned good.

Tried a cured ham that was pretty darn good.

Ive also tried a hind quarter that was made into Capicola which was also pretty danged good!

If I lived down south, Id be putting a lot of time in hunting oinkers.
