boat Launch

would like a little info. on this oak orchard river. is this river deep enough for a 17 foot alum. bass tracker. any info. PLEASE.

    1mocast, you can float your boat up stream a little ways, but to be honest, you'll not get close to the best fishing. I would be good fishing maybe in September when the kings are first coming out of the lake. The river is not very wide up stream. I have never seen a boat up there, but have heard of some guys trying it. It must not be too good or there would be scads of boats up in there. Point Breeze is where one of the boat launches is located and its near the mouth of the Oak.

    if you launch at Captains Cove you can travel up river for a ways. Not the best fishing in that stretch and if you make it anywhere near the curve below the archer's club you will be greeted by some irate fishermen. Saw one boat up that far years ago and he didn't stay long because of all the cussing he got for screwing up the fishing. I wouldn't suggest it at all.

    by the way; I made the assumtion that you were trying to travel up-river. From the launch area down-stream towards the lake is fine.
