Old Bamboo Rod
A few years back I inherited my grandfathers old bamboo flyrod. From a small piece of the sticker that is still left on it I have identified it as what I believe to be a Montague Fishkill rod paired with a Shakespere automatic reel. The rod isn't extremely valuable, but is more of an heirloom. I have never flyfished, but I love to wade and think it would be a great experience to get out and do some shallow water panfishing with small poppers, stonefly patterns, and this piece of my family's history. The wood seems to be in fine shape, but the guides could use rewrapped. Does anyone know where I might be able to take this rod to get it refurbished and back in working order, or if it would even be wise to try and use it.
