PI spring pike

Does anybody know if there's good pike fishing in PI? I've been wanting to give it a try when the weather breaks.

I know there is some, but can I expect any exceptional fishing?
Thanks in advance

Josh

Plenty of pike in the shallows. You may not get giants but a lot of fish sub legal to 30 inches. I caught piles of them when fishing for ice out crappie,I never really fished for them but they hit minnows and crappie jigs.I caught 7 one day ice fishing on tip ups but they where 20- 25 inches.

32-> 45 degrees F I look for pike in shallow areas on PI. 45-> 55 degrees water temp I catch em off weedbeds that top at 8-12ft. Haven't fished for them in warmer water on PI bay.

Planning to head up end of March beginning of April to fish pike in the ponds on the fly, if somebody would like to come along by happy to split some gas driving from Pittsburgh. Most likely like to drive up on a week day weather permitting

I've been wanting to get up there for a couple years after some pike but it just hasn't happened for one reason for another. God willing I'll be able to this year

Went up yesterday, ideal conditions. 55 degrees, 15mph wind, very overcast and only 1 fish landed. Beautiful fat female though. Had another get off by the boat and missed several others. There is practically no weeds but if you can find some, that's where we found them. Tried Misery, Horseshoe, and the head of the bay. Never ventured into the lagoons due to lack of electric motor for this trip. Pretty slow day
