Reel repair

Screwed up something with my quantum energy ptib30, I own 2, they're identical. I successfully took apart one and cleaned it howeverthe second got messed up. Any one familiar with this reel or know a good handyman that I could take it to in sw PA. The gears don't seem to be quite turning in tune. It's very strange everything fits snug but when you reel you feel the gears turning. Just very strange. Also gonna go find some water to fish. Got a ultra light mojo bass I wanna try out.

    Hey man

Got the same reel, had the same issue

Sent it to this dude at TG rod and reel service, he took care of everything for dirt cheap.

Before I did my own repairs I took mine to Tackle Unlimited on Rt 51. They did good work.

Tackle Unlimited did a good job on my Shimano Stradic 2500 (did a thorough cleaning and replaced a bearing or two) for $40, I think, a couple years ago. It needed it bad after 2 years of salt water use almost every weekend.
I worked on my own Curado last spring and got it going good but I think I may have missed a spacer/washer because the line got jammed up behind the spool last summer. I need to re-do it and if I can't get it right, I'll probably take it to them to have it looked at.

Tackle Unlimited once told my friend that without the "schematics" for his reel, they could not replace the little screw that holds the bail together.
    What a crock.

Google is a wonderful thing. Most reel schematics can be had that way, for free.
I can see why they would want to put the proper screw in there (thread count and length) but they should have been able to find the schematic.

I never gave them a schematic of my reel but then again, I had all the parts! You sure your friend is fibbing? How long ago did this supposedly happen?

No chit they wanted to use the proper screw - but they claim to be an authorized repair shop - shouldn't they be able to find the right screw, or know how to look it up on google? When you take your car to the mechanic you don't expect the mechanic to ask you for a "schematic" so he can fix your car do you?  FYI - the guy isn't lying and it happened @ 3 or 4 years ago.

What reel did he try to get repaired? Maybe it was one they weren't an authorized dealer for and they couldn't find the info.? Just throwing out possibilities since I never had issues there before (or heard of any until this as far as repairs go) other than sky high live bait prices!

Finding the right screw isn't as easy as it seems. Between the shank size, thread pitch, shape, depth, head type, type of metal, and fit tolerance there are a lot of variables that come together to make that little fastener work. And those are just commonly available. Forget about the specially designed application specific ones.

    That aside, here- http://www.quantumfishing.com/CustomerService/Troubleshooting.aspx?KnowledgeID=2775

I don't know, but he bought it at K-MArt so it had to be something relatively common.............

I know this is a old thread, but I needed a reel repaired and used the info here and called 6buoys bait and tackle. Spoke with John, made arrangements and dropped off reel for repair. It is an older reel and he went out of his way to find a part to repair it. Picked up the reel today. Works fine and the price of the fix was more than fair. Wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again.

I completely disasembled mine and cleaned off all the parts so there was no oil or grease at all and then put it back together and reoiled it.
Now it works good as new, if not better.
I should open up my own shop haha but I've only done 10 or so repairs, this one had me stumped i do beleve that behind the shaft and between the lowest gear there was blockage put its fixed
