Sat pics say MMMUUUDDDYYY!!! yes? no? maybe?

Been watching sat pic since Nov and all I see is MUD MUD and more MUD in Erie. Since we had to abort our 7th annual smallmouth trip in April to Erie last year due to MUD, plan to use sat pic to better time our 2012 trip..Sat pics looks very muddy out maybe 4 or 5 miles from shore. True? thanks for any comments...
ps: NOAA site shows WT off Toledo now up to 38...looks like no ice this year...

    I am not an expert, the water was fairly clear in June,July August last year. As far as the lake is concerned, seems like a lot of folks fish fish Presque Isle bay in April and early May. From what I hear they pound them. Just sayin

    Don't let the color in that pic fool you. Some of that water is pretty deep--too deep to mud up as bad as that looks. Western basin, yes that is mud but compare that to around PI.
