Greenlick Lake

Saw several people shore fishing and one boat on the water today. Are you permitted to use three poles yet, I saw one person with two poles bottom fishing and casting bugs with a third.

I threw wood, metal and plastic for two hours and had one hit on a 4 inch silver/black Yo Zuri that brought me an 18 inch carp. Yes carp, I was quite surprised myself. At first I thought I had a big bass. It was better than catching the skunk. Will try again tomorrom.

yes you can use 3 poles now.  here it is from the online reg book
RODS, LINES, AND HOOKS – An angler may use a maximum of three lines fished either by rod or hand when fishing for gamefish, baitfish or both. It is unlawful for a person to fish with more than three fishing rods at a time. No more than three hooks shall be attached to a line used in fishing (one hook having two or three points is considered a “single hook”). All rods, lines and hooks shall be under the immediate control of the person using them.

I am tired of playing catch-up, why can't we pass them up & legalise 5 rods like the hard water guys? After all, 5 rods x 3 hooks each would give us a better chance to catch a fish or 3. sam

With 5 rods and fifteen hooks I'd spend all my time pulling hooks out of me or my clothes and not get to fish.

Maybe you could petition the PFC to see if you can use 1 or 2 of those spider rig outfits like they use down south, afterall we can't fall behind any farther.I believe that is the tactic that the carp fishermen used when they approached the PFC to legalize 3 rods. Actualy trot lines would be the way to go imo, that way you don't even have to be awake to catch your share. btw when I say "your" I don't specificaly mean you. sam

If you want to "get" your share why don't we legalize floatin' jugs, limb set ups, quarter sticks, trot lines, spider rigs, carbide bombs and gill nets. Maybe that would help some people catch a few fish. Oh my, I forgot to add the winged fish traps and the electro shock methed. The only problem I see with some of these methods is that they would be non discriminitory and harm a lot of fish and then you might have to contend with an assult from PETA. O well-such is life. See you on the water Sam.

Wally Cat, Surely you don't think I was serious? If you do, you must not have read any of my prior posts, or have talked to anyone that does know me. I usualy practice c&r, but don't have a prob. with people keeping a few to eat, unless they are being greedy or illegal. As far as the 3 rods go, I don't see a prob. with boaters using 3, but on our small lakes it is going to cause prob. with crowding in the popular spots.I find it strange that when someone wants something they say that Pa. is behind other states ,but fail to mention that some other states only permit 1 rod each. It seems as if some people , hunters or fishermen just have to get more.I prob. will see you on the water & would enjoy talking to you,or maybe we will meet when the Jacob Creek Assoc. has a clean-up day at Greenlick. BTW the first week in Jan. as soon as 3 rods were legal,I watched a confrontation when 4 guys had 12 rods out in a small area of open water & wouldn't share with a guy that tried to come in.These 4 guys could have let him fish but didn't. sam

I do way better away from the "popular" spots..jus sayin. I'd rather seen the 3rd rod an $10 permit stamp.

Back out to the lake again today, one guy in a canoe another fishing from shore, talked to both they caught zip. I fished for about two hours throwing sticks, cranks, jigs and stuff. Had one bite and landed one fish, twenty and a quarter inch largemouth. I let the fat lady go so she could spawn. What a mouth on that girl. She hit a jig with a curly tail bounced along the bottom.

Most of the perch I catch and see caught are very small. Occasionally someone will catch 10 inchers but it's rare.
