Trolling that whole stretch along the rt 28 shoreline always produces for me...nothing massive....loooooots of smallmouth and walleye have been caught along the shore from the mouth of powers run up to the back channel of the island. If your looking for flatheads at night theres a deep hole (25-27 feet deep) directly out from the point at powers run...if u have a depth finder you cant miss it.

Smallie fishing is good especially right at dusk. Whether your trolling for eyes or night fishing for cats it's a very productive area.

I usually did good draggin crankbaits at different depths fairly close to shore...i dont think ive ever gone out and gotten skunked. Hooked into something huuuge about two years ago that i couldnt get in...got it close enough to see. looked like a big walleye or musky. Didnt think there were any musky in that stretch of river?! Snapped my line before i could land it...sumna bish...

There are definetley musky in that stretch. You can look at the PAFBC historical stocking lists here. Just click on Allegheny county and you can search by year, species, etc...
