game commissioner told me about the huge musky.............we will be fishing for musky first and foremost. but if a large pike/bass wants to hit that creek chub, that will be fine also.

fished sugar over the weekend and it had great ice. sandy is in the same area, and is about the same size etc. so i do believe it WILL have safe ice. if it doesn't, i will go to sugar again. what happened to tamarack it is like the dead sea lately? last two years, i haven't been able to do any good there.

It seems more likely then ever that red spot has hit the muskies hard there im afraid... I'm not sure on this but have heard the rumors.

Have seen some healthy fish there in recent years but have also seen my share of BIG heads and skinny bodies come up too.  Forage base is way out of balance there, same problem occurring at eaton res. lots of small skinny fish with only an occasional good one.

Musky, all other fish are just bait!

I live in Stoneboro. The lake is not even close to be frozen over. Just some general information the lake is privately owned. The owner generously allows people to fish it. What time are you planning to fish? I can alert the fire department to have people standing by.

Is there any ice at all on the lake? Could you launch a boat? Thanks.

I used to kill the perch there thru the ice years ago. Very clear lake as well. Haven't fished it in about 10 years. Saw some kind of fresh water jellyfish or something like that years ago as well. They were gg shaped and flashed bright colors. And no, I was not under the influence, haha. Anybody know what they were or ever see them before ?

ive seen algae form gelatinous balls of clear protoplasm.... thats about it. you should of caught one of those 'jellies' and poked it with a stick.

fish warden told me at tamarack, fish were so skinny because they wouldnt eat. everytime they did eat something it had hooks in it! that lake got pounded for about 5 years. red spot was also a reason. fished it 5 times last 2 years and caught 1 fish.

i would be all about a 2-4 year freeze on fishing pressure. why fish a non fishable lake for the sake of wetting a line. i wont fish it again until it rebounds. both for my own time and the sake of the fish. shame because it is the first safe lake to fish.
