Well I wont say thousands, but definitely over 1000 fish for me in my time... I can see where tuna is coming from somewhat... my time on the water has dwindled in the past 5 years but I have a different passion for the region itself now.... I enjoy visiting the region year round and mostly in the summer with my family... I know in time when the kids grow a little more and when I complete some of my plans/dreams, I will be hitting the river a lot. My son is absolutely in love with those fish. I can't wait to see him big enough to fight them on his own.... he will ha ve a blast. Yes, there are nitwits; I guess it just comes down to the person though. I had a blast drifting the river with 3 fan when we boated 4 on plugs. The next day I went down in townfor an hour and lost a giant at my feet. There was no one else fishing at all... I think its safe to say that I will always find times to enjoy the river up there.....

After 30 yrs I still have that passion for fighting LARGE troutlike fish in moving water.I really get a kick out of fighting the Kings,Coho,Steel and Browns that run up that river.I'm already booked for end of Sept.,early Oct. and will be there a few times inbetween, but not Veterans day as that's another Columbus day as far as crowds.

Not to change the subject buttt-late Winter season -time to lite some fires--
Was kinda nice last week up there to drive around my neighborhood and not notice trash in everybodys yard that the fishermen had clearly snuck in and thrown around over the years.
All covered with snow-welll -cept for the junk cars and old lawnmowers, piles of garbage bags  and stuff -even my frontage didnt have any stuff layin around on it where those darned fisher guys throw it outa their car windows all the time when they get lost and are trying to find their way back to  the river.
Even a coupla miles away down on da river ya couldnt see any carp layin there cause it was all covered with snow too.
Funny how its always the guys from outa state who do all that kinda stuff------------ice holes even snuck in an seem to have poached all  the deer by me too--

RT - it could always be worse..

Your litter/possible poaching problem can be with year-round residents.

e.g.

Take a ride up hogback road in Altmar:

First time I drove around that corner whilst on a SR Res tour,

I thought I got beamed into Bangladesh..

Unfortunately there are slobs everywhere.I do a litter pick up once a year on my and the surrounding road frontage where I live, fill bags of trash everytime and soon after the litter returns. The trash along most highways is terrible. What we need is a deposit on all cans, bottles, plastic containers and a very stiff fine and community service for those that litter.

Hey now, atleast they paved it and took down the sign "pavement ends".... first time i rolled down good old hog back I came to that sign (pavement ends) and was greeted by a multicolored pit bull barking and chasing my truck as we drove through.... it has changed a bit since then...
