Someone posted on Iceshanty last week that they stopped but didn't go out because it didn't look good.  I'll try and go up tomorrow and drill a hole and let you know.

In my opinion it is a pretty tough place to ice fish though.

Just rechecked the other web site and someone drilled a hole there yesterday at the boat launch and said it was 3 inches of decent ice but he wasn't brave enough to go to far away from shore.

Water is coming up from under the ice in a bunch of areas. It's all different thicknesses, won't trust it this year.

If your coming from the burgh might as well head to highpoint you'll do ALOT better. Somerset is tough to fish during hardwater unless you put alot of time on it.

that sucks i was hoping that the lakes out there might have some decent ice by friday but i guess not. I keep telling myself to put the ice gear away and start getting the boat ready for spring time eyes.

If anything we'll probably have some open water by Friday, this weekend is calling for @50 and it's raining now...

I think he kind of enjoys it.

Really, though, if you wanted to fish Somerset, you probably will be able to this weekend...just bring your regular gear instead of the ice stuff.

I shot a doe and offered it to the karpgawdz so they will make the ice melt for open water. And so that has happenedth
