nightmare #2

Well now that my wifes vehicle got all straightened out, my son and I broke down with some frozen fuel lines in my truck... i'll spare you folks of the chronicle; but at the least the truck is running now and we're heading home soon...of course another weekend of no work getting done and NO FISHING...ugggghh... I just counted and this is my fifth breakdown in 1.5 years in 3 different vehicles....

Anyways; I got a chance to meet clint and he was awful helpful with advice on the truck and he was ready to come down and get his hands dirty to help get the truck running... its good to know there's good people out there... at this point I've managed to meet about 7 or so folks from this forum and every single one I've met are hands down good people... just figured id share my thoughts... thanks again clint

Coors Light & Watered Down Gas..
    some folks consider that Karma....

seriously - I'd change the fuel filter on that truck - it might be mucked up if it froze.

Pete, thanks for the offer but we got her running good now....you should hit the rivet if you've got Monday and tueday off, the slush just cleared below town before sunset; and Trevor, the temp just hit 30 in town; there were a few ladies in string bikinis doing cannon balls off the bridge in town little while ago....fichy, maybe dawns new web cams caught them on film and you can watch it on facebook ;)

btw, trev; your bottle of blackberry was a little more than half full ;)

Drake, volvo and my dealer ended up covering parts... just had to swallow the labor cost...which I haven't digested yet

Hey Trev, maybe what's left in the bottle along with a stool softener will help me swallow and digest that jagged pill I have to swallow when I go to pick my car up from the dealer... metal slayer; it may very well be a bloodless one after all

The highly-skilled factory-trained Vulva wrench monkeys probably command an hourly rate of $80/hr.
The highly-trained Vulva shop mgr will inflate the labor a few hours to help cover his share of the pro-bono parts he tossed your way - and the scalp will cover retail price of the parts - not his cost.

Take my advice - don't donate any blood in the near future, after tomorrow you will down at least a pint.

Doesn't really matter what the parts were because I pay zero of that. They did estimate 17 man hours and it was actually at 90 dollars per... it seems to have taken them atleast 17 hours, and the one day I was there they had 2 techs on it....

being in business myself; im not one of those people to assume they are making some ridiculous profit off of that... heck; my rate per mechanic is 95 and the first hour gets a 55 dollar service fee... my actual cost per hour with mechanics salary and overhead percentage is actually 75.... im sure volvo gives their guy health benefits and other perks as well... they put their best guy on my vehicle who's been working for them for 14 years.... that in itself tells me they take care of their employees... they're customer service with me was phenomenal not to mention... and this isn't even the place I bought the car from... I have no problem with the hourly charge.... my problem is volvo not taking more responsibility; so yes; I may be bloody outcome in the end ;)

On the other hand, seems as if these lawyers and accountants with little overhead are the ones that are really raking it in

I bet the defense lawyer for Sandusky will rake in major ching. Unlike lawyers, accountants have scrupels, IMO most would just cap the filthy SOB behind the ear with a 22LR shell. (Frugal accountants would use the least-expensive ammo required to scramble that dirty perv's twisted brain.

yeah DB - very low overhead in da home office. Morning commutes are great - from the bed to the coffe maker to da puter room - especially on mornings like today when the unwashed masses of nitwits are trying to kill each other on black-ice coated highways.

RT there is about 6 inches or so on the ground and it's fading fast.   With Mid 40's this weekend it may be gone.

That's how a former GF of mine used to describe litte DT...

I was going to ask you if you had a dedicated plowguy for your place up there.
At least you are catching a break this year. Some years can be brutal and cost a bit of ching to keep the driveway open.

What did it do quit again?   The ice could have froze it and messed it up or it could have been the culprit from the beginning.   I found it strange when you said the reset button was tripped.  It's an in tank job, hopefully you got a good mechanic down there.

It actually quit on me about 100 more times...lol.. sometimes to start it I had to hit the reset button at the same time. The last mile before the shop I bring it to yielded about 20 stalls alone... pretty aggrevating... when they pulled the pump out it was covered in muck and the sock underneath as well... they also changed the filter and the safety switch as well. Just waiting for the next vehicle to brake down now. Im sure it wont be long

Stop running your truck on a near empty tank and your in-tank pump will last a long long time.

The gas actually cools the pump.

#1 reason for fuel pump failure - runnin on empty..

Mine is always running on Empty.. Heck the light is on now , as usual..
Funny thing is I fill it up $80.00 in the am then when I return from fishing the darn light is on again.. Strange ..

Your right, it cools the pump too.. My 05 tundra (bought new in june06 )has just under 130,00 miles and still have only changed the oil & front brakes, thats IT.. I know, it's only a matter of time but she has been good to me so far.. Unlike all those chevy or dodge trucks that were junk at 120,00

I actually changed a pump on an Escort  and when I bench tested it it was throwing sparks.  Just lucky I kept my tank full and it was covered with gas.   Of course they ALWAYS go bad  AFTER you just fill the tank so it is a pain to drop it.  For future reference you can sometimes coax them back into working by banging on the tank.
