cabin fever

Well, havent posted on these here boards for quite some time now and as my cabin fever seems to be getting worse every minute of everyday and not wetting a line for almost a month now im wondering if anyone could help me out with finding some fish somewhere in washington county. never really had any luck in the winter around here and dont want to drive any furthur than a half hour at the most because im short on money right now and i have enough gas to to drive about a half hour and back home and still make it to work before next payday. any type of info is great. pm if need be...... i just need to get out and feel a fish on the end of my line tomorrow. fly, spin, or whatever i just need to fish

Sorry, dUUd, the 'nearby water' I fish is probably a good 45 minutes to an hour from you...which is also why I don't get out that way very often.

Myself, with the short daylight and puttin in 6 hours every Saturday, I haven't had much time except for Sundays to get out this winter.

Days are getting longer though, and I think I'm going to start fishing in the hour or two of daylight immediately after work and just driving home after dark.

yeah i hear that...... i just need to find a somewhat productive spot within a half hour or so to get rid of this cabin fever every once and a while..... i know of a warm water discharge on the mon river but ive tried numerous times before and never once caught anything there no matter what i tried..... flies, bait, jigs, plastics........ so needless to say i havent gone there during the winter anymore.... guess ill see if i get any suggestions and if not maybe ill hit one of the three rivers with a lucky rabbit foot or something haha

I was just about to say try the Mon for eyes. If that discharge doesn't produce, try a creek mouth. Dawn, dusk, cloudy days. Slow drag a minnow on a jig. I'm not familiar w your area or I'd pm u a spot. Good luck.

Hang a treble off that rabbit foot and you might be onto something.

Like fishinguy said just find a creek mouth and target walleye/sauger. It's been working for us. On a 3 hour trip I'm still getting 2-3 fish from shore using a size 7 shallow shad Rapala or Vision 95's fished very slow. One in three trips we get skunked.

I don't know of a specific creek that's close to u. Just a general guideline that has helped me get on a few fish. Same tactic got me my first muskie the other day, but it was by a current break created by a shallow point, not a creek mouth. Find a nice current seam and give it he!!.

Not sure what the name of the creek is but it runs into the mon down behind sheets in Mon city. I fished it a couple of times in the summer and it was ok. If what everyone else is saying is true, then that creek should be ok to try. Cross the RR tracks and go down next to the RR bridge, then out to the mouth. Good luck.
