****, too slow. I figured if you got them to me this week I could catch something this weekend.
Have fun, Jack.  Mine are done, but who knows, I may upgrade.  Mostly, I've tied a bunch of new stones and nymphs I want  to test and haven't been able to get to the river for a few weeks. This coming  weekend  Nancy is commited to doing something, so I'm going to do the rare thing for me and go by myself. I could go on the hardwater with HT, and that's a ton of fun and something I WILL do soon again, but those **** steelhead got me more hooked than me them.

I've been tying articulated flies this week. The orange one is for the Pacific surf, but it should work for the SR, too. I'm  using twisted stainless wire for the traling body. Front hook only. I've had good luck with an articulated hellgramite for smallies and that orange thing in the Socal surf and San Diego Bay, anybody fish them  for steelies?

That orange one looks an awful lot like a 'short streamer with a thin wire hook' that I had good luck with early to mid season this year.Had bout half the fuzz on the back side.

Remember folks, the info is all contained in the first post in the thread, which is updated as needed. HT, I know your fly is probably not an egg, so one for each of us is  the min. I imagine most of us did more. I did three, but WTF, I tie quick (and alot) . Whatever you want to do and have some time for. Noone's counting, noone's judging.

These tasty morsels are from Pafisher. Nice work, Jack. I think I've unhooked one of these out of steel, or was it the Coho that had it about 4" down on it's tongue. I know why you carry those long needlenose .   I like the way this dubbing glistens. It's not extremely flashy, just shiny. Subtle.

Materials list
Flashback nymph : Mustad #10 3906B, Danville 6/0 black thread, Super Bright dubbing (peacock)  DMC Mouline Metallic thorax cover.
Greenhead
Same dub  - thread-same ,hook #10 3906 nymph- Head- fl. chartreuse super bright dubbing.

Thanks Charlie,I have been using that copper flashback for many years after finding it hooked on the jaw with broken tippet of a King that I landed.I took the fly out and put it in my box, later I tied it on and made a cast or two and hooked into and landed a King with it.I immediately cut it off and put it back in box so I could duplicate it.I showed it to Malinda and she thought the body was the Peacock Super Bright dubbing, and I believe she was correct. The copper thorax material comes from a hobby store.I tie that on size 8 down to 16,catch Salmon,Steel,Browns, and local stocked trout on it.
The green head fly can also be tied with F red,it's a deadly fly on the SR.

Tied my first fly the other day. Not involved in this swap but hope to be in future ones. Anyway the "fly" ended up looking like a mini bass jig. Tuna hooked me up with some starter stuff at the last get together-thanks HT. I added some spinner bait skirt material but the hard part seemed to be when to stop adding. Anyway, we caught a 2 lb smallmouth last March so maybe it won't be a waste.I say "we" because my buddy caught it.I'm relying on Darwin-the weak and deformed will be eaten first.Maybe my "flies" (creatures) will work. Please post pix of patterns entered, creator doesn't matter, just interested what I should be aspiring to.

Thanks dime,I find "keep it simple" works for me.Looking at my flashback in that picture the only thing I would do different is taper it more like the greenhead fly,but that's what I think and the fish will probably grab the skinny tie just as fast. You can put legs on that as well but I never have, the original one has legs (still have it in my box).
By the way the tail on the flashback is goose biots, and the tail on greenhead is black hackle tips.

That dog barks nicely Slammo.

Fichy:
Sorry to say, my package still sits in my truck. I got discombubulated the other day running errands and forgot about it. I wanted to have Post Office stamp postage instead of me estimating w stamps and then experiencing the Insufficient Postage BS - got one sent back to me last month for 1 cent due. - WTF !!

I notice I am the only loser left on the list (besides Slammo & DB)..
Sorry for hold-up.

butt

there is a silver lining:

note: single beer can left behindby nitwit was only piece of trash I saw in 100 acre walk - sure beats the SR Nature Trail.

I scored you crow feathers this morning. Had to pull out all the tricks at dawn to coax a very leery resident crow to his early demise. They are nit-picky now and broken up into small groups - it took 60 yard shot with highbrass 6 to coax him into a crash and burn death tumble to the hard surface of Ma Earth.

Funny thing, I gotz him at one of favorite yote sniping spots:

Good way to start the day in Farmsville, Pennsyltucky.

I'll repack my parcel to include the irradescent, floursecent, magnificent wing & tail from Mr Crow.

Will send out 9am Monday via Priority Service Package.
Sorry for delay - but looks like chit worked out 4 da better.

p.s.

I bet my package still beats DB's to the Fichy mailbox.

Rumor has it that he tied up his custom #5 Man-Hairz flies and has to let them sit in the autoclave another day to ensure complete disinfectance of the Joisey Tony-Soprano-like Essence entrapped within - or else the Postal Inspector may tag & bag as illicit shipment and cause even further delay...

Tanks!   Drake those yotes are conspirin' with the crows. Best keep your guard up.  I know a guy in  sunny Callie that ties streamers out of yote tail. Probably some dubbing oppurtunites , too. I don't hunt anymore, but I blasted one on a farm I was building a milkhouse on last year. Mangy thing, they smell newborn calves 10 miles away.
