Cool video Doc! I walked up on a fight 3 years ago when going in the woods. It was SUPER loud, made me realize that the rattle bag I use doesnt sound much like a sumo match in the woods. It was happening not 30 yards away, pretty cool to witness, even if it was still dark.

Yep just as Dars said.. they stand up and start swinging those legs and hooves.. I have several on video fighting.. We have also observed just how "nasty" some females can get while feeding at my feeders... We have even seen mothers chase off their own fawns from the spring.. The BBs are the worst -- they want to chase everyone away !!!! When I start supplemental feeding after next week I'll see if I can get some video on the camera to share ??

I'd have to say the smaller racked buck won that one. Close your eyes and listen to it. Very little "banging" of horns to be heard. Very little. Something to be learned from that... Ironhed

"While feeding at my feeder" Don't you mean my hunting spot! Yes I have seen doe fights and almost always over food. I've have also seen 6 buck fights in 30 years of bow hunting from a tree stand, and killed the winner of one, moments later.

ORIGINAL: Ironhed I'd have to say the smaller racked buck won that one. Ironhed Can't be. According to the PGC the bigger buck always wins and always gets to breed the doe. That is how superior genetics are passed on through the AR program.

My father claims to have witnessed a large doe killing a black lab that was chasing her. He said that she came through fast and looked exhausted. She stopped turned and waited. The dog followed shortly after nose to the ground. The dog got within a couple yards of the deer before it looked up. Then, CRACK!!, skull spit wide open from the front hooves. I've never known the old man to lie. So that story dissolved the illusion of deer as cute, helpless, disney cartoons in my adolescent mind. It also make me wonder if coyotes would even stand a chance against anything other that a spotted fawn.

Always get a laugh when I hear the so-called deer experts talk about letting the large racked bucks breed the does to produce better bucks. What is in your genes will determine what your offspring will be if they are given enough time and a year and a half 6 pt. will produce the same offspring as a 5 year old 10 pt. A recent study that was printed just lately said the same thing. If the other was true; then my 65 year old body should produce a super baby compared to a teen-ager. Genes and food are the main factors to produce nice bucks if they given enough time to mature.
