Cook shack or Bradley smoker?

To anyone who would like to share any insight into this subject please feel free, I am buying a smoker and am torn between 2 of them as of now 1- a Bradley smoker a decent all round smoker at an affordable price the other......2- is a Cook Shak smoker a significantly more expensive smoker but seems well worth the price. PLEASE IF ANYONE HAS ANY OF THESE ITEMS AND COULD SHARE ANY INFO I SURE WOULD APPRECITATE IT!

My buddies bradley blew the heating element within the first year. He got it replaced under waranty and has no further issues. He does however have to buy special wood pucks to run the bradley. He spends some dough on them compared to using found wood.

If the cook shack can use any wood, I'd go that route. That bradley cost $20 every time he runs it just for the pucks.

Get the Bradley and install an Auber PID. The electronic unit on the Bradley sucks. With the PID you can program it,flip the switch and walk away(except for running the smoke). He's got 4 running in his deer shop. There was a problem with a bad batch of heating elements, he blew 3 this year. Bradley sent a bunch out for nothing. As for the pucks, buy somewhere else than Cabela's. I just did a search and found 120ct boxes for about 30 bucks. Cabela's wants 19.99 for 48ct.

Thanks 4 the tip. I'll tell my buddy to order online. I wonder if there is a "recipe" for making your own pucks.

    I tried my new Bradley today on steelhead. 3 hours @ 200 degrees. 9 apple pucks @ .35 = $3.15

    Looks decent to me

Never thought about making your own, just sawdust. Did a quick search...

We'll never be able to go that route. I think my buddy ran through 5-6 cases this year.
