plugs prevailed

First and foremost; compliments to 3fan for extending his boat and company to me.... john can be summed up in 4 words: friendly, honest, genuine and professional.... he knew just where to steer those plugs in to get the fish we got. 3 of the 4 we boated he "predicted" where the rods were going to crack and sure as **** he was right... and on top that his company was top notch... as he said, the wind came in and the fish shut down... we managed to work more than a few runs and seems with the fly rod and floats but no luck.... the plugs prevailed... we boated our first one just below fichy after we saw him on Sunday morning... drake sorry I can't upload the pics from my phone, but if were able to I think 8:30 am would've been the first one on the webs for the new year...maybe I should toss out my DROID and pick up an i-phone...lol... fichy, it was nice to see ya for that brief moment. We did see you hook one and lose it after a short chase... I guess I will get you those flies next time. Happy new years to you all. Pics will follow when I get home.... if I ever get home?????

Was a great time fishing with you dime, thanks for the pics you sent. Looks like last nights snow missed ya, safe travels for the wife and kids on the way back home, and if you are gonna be around till friday maybe we can give the floats and fly stick another crack or two, cant catch them if ya aint trying to. Did ya manage one before ya left on sunday?

A great time it was... i managed to roll one briefly on an olive bead headed bugger in the lfz on about 15 minutes effort after we parted. The guilt set in pretty quickly though and I headed home to the fam.
the snow did miss us last night but more than a few lake effect bands of snow/sleet/ice have come through since the morning. Could very well be a foot and a half by morning in some areas with some select spots having up to 3 by tomorrow night. Don't know what my plans are yet. Gotta see what the car dealer says tomorrow...if im still up Thursday I will definitely hit the river againin with ya.

Thats great !! Didn't realize you were still there.. Now I'm seriously jealous !! I'm stuck here in dulldrum capital district freezin my azz off today wishing I was fishing somewhere in NY, Hard or Soft..
Good for you to be free for so long.. Boy I miss it (free) already..

As for looking at my hardwater spots.. lol.. lets not go there, there are plenty folks chomping at the bit lurking for ice.. Main reason the other NY sites are dead, dam spot burnners..
Luckly it's a 6 million acre park with lots more open or hardwater spaces then people willing to venture..lol.. More to come !!

    Have a Blast man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Something came up for me tomorrow AM so I am out.   Even so, It's 6 right now on my thermometer so 0 is not out of the question.  Too cold for me dude, even if I did go I don't know how long I could last in that.  We'll get together at some point it's only a matter of time.   Let me know the next time your up and I will at least stop by and visit.
All the talk by HT is starting to get me the itch for some ice fishing.

Yes - you are outta your mind..Coldest I ever fished up there was -5, in a heated driftboat and it was BRUTAL.

on a side note, it is a balmy 9 deg here at 2am. Those pesky 20mph NW winds have finally died, and it is dead calm. Waning Gibbons moon will set in 1 hour.

I had a long nappy-nap, find myself wide awake and will most likely be in the woods in search of Wiley E. The dawgs will be on the move with this weather.

Now that I think of it - perhaps I am outta my mind too.

Big Plus is that I won't have any reason to dip my hands in a river.

Now that I think of it - perhaps I am outta my mind too.

Drake, I never knew you had it in ya to come clean; congrats on the big step in realization...yeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Well, the mercury rose a bit from late last night. It did get down to 5, but it has gone up to 8 now. Heading out soon in hopes of a few bobber drops. I imagine I can pick any spot on the river today so I may very well try a few spots while not giving any one more than 30 minutes... probably gonna stay away from Altmar unless I get skunked...

With the water still at 900; lake bright chromes are what im looking for... if anyones around throw me a pm. Oh yeah, clint, i'll let you know when im around. I may very well fish the afternoon as well. Don't know yet...
