Some in with the new

It was a typical trip to the river, full of curveballs. Learn to hit 'em or go home. Stoney's was closed so no camping as we had planned . Punted, and went to Brenda's. Was  happy with the  accomodations and met some  nice people. Sat. started slow but picked up with a flurry of fish around 8-9. Ended banking 4 out of the 12 hooked. Since they kept it at 900, I couldn't chase and snapped off the usual beauties. Afternoon was slow. Too much pounding. Left at 3. New Year's  also started slow but picked up nicely. I landed one, then moved down   into a tail , changed colors (pink to blue and purple)  and hooked 3 fish in 3 casts. I landed 2 of the 3. Nancy got cold, as she wore waders to get across a diversion and didn't wear heavy socks in our rush to get going this morning . So we bagged it   early  and took the long way home, looking at some rivers  I've always wanted to see and possibly fish. Altmar  was very crowded . I'm sure I could have found some space lower, but I know certain areas well  and wanted to actually play with some fish. I  live in a scenic area with tons of outdoor activities right out my door. I drive to the SR for the fish. Period.   I had a blast playing with the ones I hooked. I spoke with a fellow from Ct. that told me he didn't mind the 5 1/2 hr.  drive to find peace and quiet. I laughed and told him I came to the SR for the excitement!  We all live very different lives. I saw Dime and 3 Fan drift by  in a nice boat and say good morning-it was good to see them, I hope they had a great day. Happy New Year guys, I hope all of you have a productive year and get to the river as much as you wish to have some fine times with some fun fish.

HT, I haven't seen anything safe yet, but after Tuesday....  Hey, no way we'd be farther than 10 miles from my house. I'm there.  Want some ciscos for laker bait?  Talk soon, bro.  Oh yeah, thanks for the Ponderosa food review. It wasn't bad at all.  They must have changed management since last time we were there. New Years eve  at the Pondy... how low budget is that...

Fichy, nice pics was good to see you and see you hooked up. Dime and I managed to put 4 in the boat, not the banner day we hoped for, the wind picked up around 1130ish and the bite just went away.

Tune, here's the pond we talked about.  7". Got a little gill- had some  crappy dried out Gulp, and only stayed a few minutes.  Other ponds are very close to safe . Another down the road from and similar to C's Pond will be safe, too. I might go late tomorrow. Looking promising.

SWEEEEEEET !! looks like i will be seeing You & Mrs. Fichy soon

    Edit:
    llp
Not sure of you westerners (sandy & such) but most any decent (300 acre) lakes or smaller within the blue line (adk's) are being fished on 4>6+ inch good ice..
with the cold snap the last 2 days the number of water bodies will increase

Llp30, I would imagine the pond will maybe have people fishing it by tomorrow??? Not sure though... I just passed oneida 2 hours ago and it was completely covered... with tomorrow not getting out of the 20's and todays and yesterdays cold snap; I would assume the pond may be walkable....
