The Preparation

Every fisherman who is passionate about steelhead fishing knows all about preparing for a fishing trip to the tribs.  We spend time getting flies tied or bait ready.  We carefully choose the rods and reels we will be using and pack them with great care.  The waders are checked for leaks, the boots examined, the vests packed.  We make a list of all the things we want to do and places we are going to fish.  We rehearse our first casts over and over in our minds and visualize the drift as we anticipate the first fish taking our offering and go screaming down the stream.

In this Christmas season it is time to think about how we have prepared for the coming of Christ at Christmas.  Have we made a place in your heart for the King of Kings?  Have we examined our life and asked for forgiveness and help to live as God has called us to live?   Are we joyfully anticipating the gift God has so generously offered us?

Christmas is not so much an event as it is the hope of a new beginning, a new life.   May you be prepared for the gift that is being offered.  It is not too late to get ready.  All you need is an open heart and to believe that God so loved the world He gave His only Son so that you can have life eternal.
Have a Merry and Joyous Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Oh yea, good luck on the streams

Thank you for some inspiration that probably all of us needed. My children (all grown up) and my wife and I will be attending services this evening, then family get togethers. I sadly have to work tomorrow. Power plants don't rest, got to keep those Christmas lights burning. Thank you again for the inspiration that you gave to me personally when my father was sick. Merry Christmas, and God bless.

A simple thank you seems to fall short. Your Christmas prayer/message is always special to me. I read it more than once and take your words of wisdom to heart.
