Wont happen for a while, I suspect. I talked to a PFBC via email and got this

"As of right now Kahle Lake will remain drawndown until funding is found to complete the necessary repairs on the dam. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission has several dams that are in need of repair and as you might guess fixing these structures is not cheap so usually funding has to come from outside the agency and can take some time especially in our current economic situation. So I cannot say when Kahle will get repaired. "

I live close to Kahle. I'd love to hook up with someone who knows the lake to teach me a few things. Anyone interested?

OK, thanks.  Probably means there are likely carp in there, just not a lot, which is good.

I've never caught them there, but I've seen them feeding on the top. They are in there, but like PaCarper suggests, not too many. I fish Kahle for panfish, mostly. Carp are fun to catch, but I like to eat what I catch. Therefore, I leave carp alone! LOL! There is to be an ice fishing tournament on Kahle Lake this year. If you go to the North East Ice Tour online, you can read all about it.

I can really say I've seen carp in Kahle. I've seen some monster snapping turtles though. I've seen musky tailing too

With the water so low, I may just lift the jon boat off the trailer at the water's edge instead of backing into the lake.

Same here! I bent over to knock the ice out of my hole and "PLOP" right into the drink. Nuttin' but Net. Made me sick. I had an 8gb micro SD card in that phone with all kinds of movies and pics of my babies on it. Oh well, lesson learned. LOL! Nice and cold today. We have a little bit of snow too. If this keeps up, maybe we'll actually get to fish it within the next two weeks.

I'll second the comment about the monster snappers! I saw one last summer that would have a hard time fitting in a wash tub. That thing was a monster! I also saw plenty of muskies. The one evening I was out after crappie, I kept seeing muskies skimming the surface. The entire dorsal fin and tail would be out. There were at least two fish. I saw this happen 6 or 7 times in an hour. It could have been the same 2 fish or as many as 7 fish. Couldn't tell. One was really big, the other was a bit smaller. All of the other ones were hard to judge. As far as the carp go, every time I see them, they are in the thick weeds in about 4-6 FOW. Hope that helps.

Anyone check the ice on Kahle lately? I can't wait to get out on it this year. Please let me know as soon as you hear that it's fishable. Thank you.

If I didn't live 35 miles away, I would. I just figured that there might be someone who lived closer that has checked it out lately and could give me an update. I'm not sure why you took it upon yourself to be rude about it. Hopefully you feel better now. Have a nice day.

We stopped by Kahle this evening on the south side. There were 6 vehicles in the lot and guys were on the ice. Some had gone out to the left and right off the ramp and there were a couple out from the woods at the end of the lot where you drive down in.There was also 1 guy out on the north side.I have no idea how much ice there is as it was raining and I wasn't dressed to go and check.

I fish for steel like 2-3 times a year..I'll watch the gauge before going instead of trolling the board. Kahle is like 10 mins from me, but I dont ice fish. I'm a good 75 miles from Pymy simple check of weather then fish on!

i see what you mean. it's why i don't post topics on here anymore, just share when i can, maybe check ice conditions. was trying to trade the maps i have to try and score a woodcock map. only ones i have seen either show gps coord. of some cribs, or a hand drawn map. nothing with depth bands. finally scored a kinzua map. going to scan it on a wide format. that'll take one hell of a tip for me to send, i paid cash for it. i also use this forum to save myself driving to every lake on earth to find safe ice. without this forum, more guys would chance it because they came all that way. safety in numbers man....

AMEN brothers. The lakes are big. Plenty of room, plenty of fish. I help people every chance that I get. Once in a while it pays off and someone helps me too. It's how we learn. I know nothing of Woodcock or I'd help you out there. I wish I could get one for Kahle, but as far as I know, none exist.

ugh! Rain and warm today! I was praying for ice for this coming weekend. I have two little boys (5, and 4)who have never been on the ice and are dying to try. I've been promising them "next weekend, next weekend" and then next weekend comes and there is no ice. If I could afford the gas, I'd take them way up north and chase the ice, but ALAS! No GAS!
