Insulated Rubber boots? Which one to buy
Evening, With x-mas coming quickly I told my dad to buy me a pair of rubber boots for walking in the rain as well as ice fishing to keep my feet warm.. He got me a pair of Lacrosse 17mm alphalite rubber boots from GM. After i went to Gander these rubber boots didn't feel thick at all. I walked around in the Muck rubbers and was pretty impressed with them. What kind do you guys use to hunt? I'm looking for a kind I will be comfortable to walk in throughout the day and keep my feet warm. Thanks, Ed

i made a trip to CDS in grove city when they had their annual boot sale and tried on about 8 different brands/styles until i found the kind i really liked. I did find some enjoyment out of having a little kid look at me funny as i walked around the store with 2 different boots on trying to decide which to purchase. Take into consideration the weight of the boots too when making up your mind. Nothing worse than overly heavy boots when you spend a day afield.

Lacrosse AlphaBurly. Ironhed Agree-- warm and comfortable to wear. I suffer foot problems but can wear these without special orthonics.

Muck - Woody Elite model. Warm, waterproof, comfortable, won't dry rot over time like all rubber boots.

Yes, AlphaBurly Sport w/ the 1000 gram. Comfortable, not too heavy. I'm just over 2 years on my pair and still doing well. No cracks or delaminated soles. My feet are 10 1/2-11 in shoes. With rubber boots I can usually get by with 10's and have room for 2x thick socks. I use from Oct archery through winter ice fishing. They're a bit warm for 50 degree walking and a bit cool for sitting still on the ice for hours. But I think overall, I'll buy another pair when these wear-out.

Take that back, my Lacrosses are actually size 11. So think maybe they run a little small. I've never tried Muck's, but from what I've heard they have a good reputation.

Lacrosse alphas and mucks are always at the top. The disadvantages are that lacrosse are a pain in the****to get on and the muck get so **** hot you better have a change of socks with you and time to let the boot off your foot to cool down, or you'll get cold quick. I handled a pair of under armor rubber boots the other day at dicks. Might have to look into them. Seem like they might "get hot" however. They claim breathability.
My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

I got the Muck arctic pros for christmas (early) Mainly to use for ice fishing - which they seem like they'll be great for. But, I don't think they'd be much of a hunting boot unless you have a short walk to a long sit. They're bulky & hot. Not warm....hot. Very comfortable though. Looking forward to a day on the ice to put them to the test. Just fyi - anyone looking at the arctic pros, try them on first. I usually wear a size 12; ended up going with a size 14 in the arctic pros - seem to run on the small side.

I use uninsulated Alpha Burleys for upland hunting and dog training, so they get a lot of wear. I have yet to have a pair last a year without an issue. But then again, no other boots have lasted either.

on the lacross...some of them (dont know which name) have and "ankle patch" wich makes them easy to get on and off...seems to me that it would rub a blister blelow where the "patch" is... any comment on this? had a pair of insulated cabelas brand and the hardest part was trying to get them off of my feet...I would get a charley horse in my calf trying to jimmy them off...
