Bars and food near Girard ???

I have a camp near Girard and am looking for new bars and restaurants to drink and eat. We frequent the Avonia Tavern atleast once every trip up but looking for other options. Where can we go for good food and beer ?

There is a sports bar in lake city (?) across from the train station restaurant. Pretty nice place and no hassles.

    Girard Diner.

    No beer, but good breakfasts.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

Sorry, but have to disagree....I spend a lot of time in Girard/Erie area. Been to Mike's several times...The owners show difinite favoritism and the service sucks. I sat in there for a half hour one night, owner knowing we needed seated, and she seated locals coming in AFTER us before us. The food is average fried food typically and their pizza tastes like the frozen pizza you find at the supermarket. Not a very impressive menu either...I've given them TOO many chances as far as I'm concerned.

I've tried a bunch of places really over the years and have to say that its pretty hard to sway from the Avonia Tavern for overall quality.

It's a bar. Food service is sometimes a little slow, but Avonia is no different. You want to get a seat quickly then come with me. Their pizza was fantastic the other night, and who doesn't love crinkle cut fries. I will say the menu could use a few more items though.

Avonia's the best nowhere else even close as food is concerned in that small area area but the service sucks, kitchen is way to small for a place of that size, Mikes sucks pizza is frozen junk and wing sauces are blah spent my last $ in there.

Go to Teresa's, get some good arsed food. Stop at the distributer, buy a case. Eat & drink at camp. No chance of a DUI traveling between the fire ring, and the camper

For me the fire ring is usually the cause of the accident.

agreed. i thought i was the only one who got burnt wings there. the 1st time we ate there all the wings were strategically placed burnt side down. ate there 2 or 3 more times and that was it. way overrated imo. just sayin'

Don't know if this is "near" enough, but to the west just east of Conneaut Ohio is a little mexican place: http://www.pocobandito.com/

Ate there a couple of times and thought it was pretty good. Good beer selection, service was good. Sorry I don't have more suggestionsto offer..

Looking at the places east of Conneaut, it looks like I may have to take a drive and give them a try next year.

I love cats. I just can't eat a whole one..

What Spoonie said, for the most part! Terrsa's, best three meals you can get from one serving! And the price can't be beat and if you add the beer at camp, it truley can't be beat! But if you don't have a camp or don't want to run near the nut, go to Pennies, near Elk,, good and cheap except if you get they're Saturday special, its $1 more than whats on the menu!) Avonia is just to dang pricey anymore, don't know how good anymore, just haven't been in there in 4 or so years.
