While the morning started off bright and early not to hunt but to go to college the whole class I could barley pay attention to anything then I get the txt message my brother shot a 8 pt now I can barely stay in class. Finally got out at 11:40 and a hr drive back home i knew i had plenty of time to see something. at 2:00 I past up a legal buck that was small and figured I would let him grow. Glad I did cause i shot my 7 pt at 4:00.

    I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

Nothing to write home about, but as I have stated here numerous times - for me, antlers don't make the deer, antlers make the deer legal.  However, my Dad, who is 87 and still recalls how hunting was a real part of subsistance through the 20's, 30's, 40's, and to some extend much later, and can be a real bear over the holidays if he does not have a deer in his freezer, will now be satisfied that he will survive the winter and I can get on with a non-pressured antlerless season -- as soon as the PGC releases me from the mandatory time out imposed until Saturday.

Come on Shawn - need a story too. Did you shoot it out of that goofy lookin' house thing up in a tree?

Congrats on the deer fellas. Way to go to your son, Jason ! First deer/buck is special.

There is actually a fairly good story, which somewhat involves you to some degree, that you would more than likely find very amusing as you chuckled at my "dummass rifle hunter mentaility."  And, yes, the deer was harvested (killed, whatever) from that de-luxe apartment in the sky.

Yep, AR is working very well.  This mighty midget would only fit inside about 75% of my pre-Altian racks.

Now go get your wolf before someone shoots it for being a mountain lion.

Well, I want to hear about it.    Did you hunt day two ?  Bet that thing kept you dry.   Have you grabbed the prussic knot and had it drip what seems like a gallon of freezing water down your arm ?

I put one in the scope tonight at 80 yards.  It was painful to watch.  He was really nice.   One of the bigger I've seen.

I'll pull something together on it and post.  You will find it amusing.

I had no reason to hunt Day Two -- the PGC has me on a mandatory "time out" until Saturday when my Mother's Day Card can be sent.

The deer condo does keep one dry.  The first year I had it, it poured for a coupleof days and it was basically like sitting on my back porch -- except for the dousing going to and from.

I give the life line rope a decent shake before I attach -- it shakes any water out of the knot and lets me know the darnthing is stall attached solidly enough to keep my fat butt hanging if I do somehting stupider than normal.

Shot on Monday a decent buck from the ANF . 9 point that came through with another buck the same size ( probably siblings ) saw a larger one after he was already down . Too bad no one else was hunting with me . Deer came through by natural movement toward his bedding area about 3:30 PM . Saw a total of 7 deer and 3 were shooter bucks .

    Some nice bucks guys! Congrats.
And those that aren't 'nice' look delicious.
Mine falls under the delicious category.
9:45 first day ~ only deer I'd seen.

So what is the story with the spruce creek deer Brandon ?

He is one I saw spotting mid November and a guy at local camp got him last Friday evening. He was all rutted up I guess.

Don't know whats up withe my goofy grin !! Not a good pic...
