    Around the park:
Walleye or catfish on a good day.
Homeless drunks asking for cigarettes and change on some days.
They re friendly but get confused when if you tell them that you don't smoke
Bring a pellet gun to shoot rats near the picnic area if the fishing is slow(don't get caught)

Near 7th or 8th street there are stairs that go down to the river and a parking lot nearby.
Might catch almost anything but catfish are abundant.

Lots of other places to try along the walking biking trail.

Catfish and carp below Becks Run on french fries -Don't fish there after heavy rain unless you like toilet paper on your line.
I'm not sure if that area is accessible because of construction near river.

Probably blown out on Saturday if you went.

Marty summed up a few spots. Here are a few others. Nothing in the area is really worth any sort of special trip for. I lived there for 8 years, and had family there my whole life, and would only hit up these places if I had an itch and only an hour or so to fish. I really don't like spot burning, but the spots in the area are garbage from my experience. Here are a few that were a little less garbage. If you are stuck to the South Side, this might save you a little time, although none are worth making a specific trip for.

In the park - There is a kayak launch with two old concrete barge tie offs. Will hold some fish at times. If you walk to the end of the picnic table area, there is a dirt trail that goes along the river. It will take you to some deeper water behind the South Side Works.

Right outside of the Stillers/Pitt - UPMC Sports Medicine complex, there is a barge "pier" that you can fish off of. Parking is a bit tight around there though.

The base of the 10th St. Bridge is accessible, but a bit steep. Filled with snags, but holds fish. I'd imagine the same for the Hot Metal, but never attempted to scale down.

The 7th St. area is nice, a kayak launch site. Also filled with snags, but most of the time, a barge tied off right next to the dock. If the conditions are right, fish will use as structure.

The entire area is filled with CSOs, so fishing after a hard rain is not a good idea. Wait at least 2 days after a heavy rain for the sewage to get washed down a bit.

There are a few other access areas along the trail. None have seemed to be worth the scale down the embankment... Honestly, if you don't live in the South Side or have another reason to put you there, I wouldn't reccomend fishing there at all (unless launching a boat). If you are stuck to shore, and live in the SS, and have more than an hour, head to the point, mouth of any stream or below the dams (as specific as I'll be on spot burning those areas...). Just do some searching around on here, and you'll find a ton of much more productive spots within 10-30 minute drive. Sorry if I burned anyone's spots, but highly unlikely this post is going to send people in droves to fish your spot...
