Nice fish by the way. Are you using a super line on your rod? If so, does it give you much trouble in the rocks? I used to use Spiderwire, but was such a PIA to break off of tax rock snags.

He said that he only got a few hours of fishing in, since he went down with his woman. Didn't fish the inlet at all, and stuck to the beaches. He left the tip of his lure chucking rod at home, and didn't want to mess around with his surf rod on the rocks.

Speaking of which, what kind of set up do you have? Is it comfortable chucking lures all day? I want to get a new salt set up. I can't cast my surf rod with lures for more than 1/2 hour or so. It's ok for chucking out cut bait and works for lures in a pinch. I use an 8' for lures in the inlet, but not the best for out front. Yours looks to be 10'+, and guess it is light enough to chuck lures around? Do you use it for chucking out clams/cut bait too?

yeah, we are using long casting rods with large faced reels to get as much distance on casts as possible.  if you can reach farther than most people and know what you are doing, you will find fish.
 
I had to have caught around 30-40 fish, maybe 8 in the mid 20's and the one keeper, so not big fish and did that for friday, all day sat and sunday morning.  I am pretty sore in my upper body but really not too bad for the amount of fishing I did throwing mainly 4 oz of lead as far as I can most casts...

Cool - I've had similar days down there, definitely not 30-40, but 10+ during the right flow. All in the mid 20 range. Seem to get a little smarter, when they hit legal status, but a blast regardless. I'll drop you a message if I can make it out there. It would be cool checking out your technique, definitely different than what I do. I'm usually stuck to NJ, since my work region doesn't cover DE any more. 2 little kids, doesn't allow for my annual trip to Dewey any longer, so pretty much only get out on work trips.

My buddy has a Tica and likes it. I think sort of what you are saying Eyes. Handles both pretty well, but likely not the best for casting and retrieving plugs/pencils all day. Although, for dual action, probably a good call. If I still lived 2 hours from the beach or less, I'd probably make the investment for multiple rods. I already have 3 salt specific rods... None are very good though.

Oh yeah, do you guys full spool with the Powerpro, or put a backing on?

Did you guys make it out? I saw Tim's jerky post, hopefully from a mobile phone. The reports are looking ok down that way. Someone caught a 50lber on AI. Probably freezing you gonads off, but better than not fishing!
