It's not the biggest

Well I finally got one.

To bad I got sick right after I caught it.   Bad stomach cramps, had to pull over a few times on the way home to let loose my sparse breakfast.   Feeling now.

Thanks DB.  I got it at the LFZ church hole on the downstream side where the pool turns into rapids,  saw 2 others taken and a decent brown in the hour I was there. I got this week off and then the first week of Dec off, so more fishing to come.   I am thinking of trying Oswego tomorrow.   I had it on the bank twice before actually landing it.   Honestly,  I was so excited at first I thought the cramps could have been from that but  after hurling a few times I thought better and headed home. After moaning and groaning and then taking a hour nap they are gone .   Are Steel clipped, I see the Adipose on the back does that mean it is a natural.

Excellent, Clint. May not be a giant, but I'd be happy to hook it.  I'm sorry the cramps put a damper on the moment. You'll be replaying it in your head for awhile.  I hate to tell you, you'll still feel the same way on number 101. Not the cramps, the excitement.  Steel on the fly  flat out rock.

Thanks for all the good word guys.   I went to Oswego today to give that a try and there were only a few people there.  Just  as I was walking down to the dam I saw a VERY fresh king come screaming down some rapids.   Than before I set 2 feet in the water the siren went off and my day there was cut short.  I have seen too many people get trapped there.   I went back to the LFZ and  I went  0 for 2 today on a pink glow bug in about 1.5 hours.   I saw a 12 to 15 lber taken and about 10 more hookups.   I then slipped and got my sleeve (and my pride)  all wet.  It was too cold to stay out with a wet sleeve and I forgot my gloves, so home for a nap (I love vacation).   Temp while fishing was 36 degrees by my car crowds are down a bit too.    8/10 plates are out of staters.
Drake as far as taking long walks I am just learning how to read the water so I am going for maximum fish to cast ratio.  If the crowds are horrible I move on or go home, it is one of the perks living 15 or so minutes from the river.   I really do not like fishing alone too, see above  about falling in  :0).   I was thinking  about walking trout brook tomorrow and fishing at the mouth in the hole on the downstream side maybe down further too.  Any thoughts?????

keep the afternoon open for another vacation nap.

if I was up there, I would park at Trestle North lot, and take a nice walk downstream to the bend and fish that spot and below it.

easy walking, little to no chance of gettin wet.. IMO it is one of the nicest areas to fish.

p.s. - good call on the Big O, no need to be a darwin award winner for a fish..

    good luck.

Drake that is the one other area I fish alot.   I have a little more trouble with the faster water, but have picked up hits there.

I always liked the choppy water lined with bushes above the big bend, the elm, and then the head of the next flat downstream (the snag), but last time up WB said that a lot of the elm and snag filled in in the last big storms. Mouth of Trout Creek is nice too, but it always seemed to fish better from the south side of the river, and that means a long hoof or crossing the flows.

I have found a method for avoiding Darwin Awards for longer, I think. My waders are ancient, and although they did not leak when I was up with HT 2 weeks ago, they did cause a lot of cramping in my feet. This week I went with my hip boots with korkers on them for traction, my ususal Finger Lakes trib footgear. While there is a lot of water that I might not be able to fish as effectively, if I am tempted to get too deep too fast, I get a not so subtle wake up call as the water rushes down the leg! And I could walk the next day without a walker! I won't be wading across the river in many spots even at 350-400 cfs, but at 60, the leg strength is not what it was at 35, so maybe it is better to not be wading across the river!

Get ready for a change in flow in The Sr. NWS says 90% chance of 0.9" overnight and more on Wednesday. My friend who lives in Pulaski says the upper reservoir was starting to fill up when he went by a couple of weeks ago, but if the area gets and inch or so in 24 hours, the tribs are going to kick the flow up a couple of notches. Maybe start seeing more fresh ones lower.

Thanks for the ongoing reports, Clint. And to Lucky for the water info. I'm hoping.
