Easy On The Fish!

I was fishing lower Elk Creek on Thursday above the Rt. 5 bridge by the concrete slabs. A guy (wearing Simms waders and sporting a goatee) on the north side of the stream caught a young jack. He put the fish on the ground, positioned his fly rod (rod had blue reel seat) by the young steelhead, then tried to find his cell phone, then finally started taking photos, numerous photos of his catch. Well, after 5 minutes of taking photos, he tried to revive the little steelhead. It wasn't working because as he would let the fish go and it would turn belly up. He grabbed it again and tried to help it back to life. He finally let the fish go and it floated away. To that guy, you should be a shame of yourself. You had that fish out of the water for 5 minutes. I'd like to hold your head underwater for that same amount of time. You, as well as any adult knows better than this. These fish are our future! That fish you killed will certainly not make another trip up Elk Creek next year. Anyone who possesses just a little common sense knows better than this idiot! The best thing you can do is stay away from the streams.

They arent our future, they are stocked every year, i can understand the frustration though, he should've kept the fish if it wasn't going to live, not let it float away

8 point, Did you go over and offer to help him get a shot? Did you go over and discuss how he should handle fish next time? Did you retrieve the fish so that it wasn't wasted?

I am glad I don't look good with a goatee! Ayone out there want to buy me simms waders?

So basically what you're sayin' is that little jacks life was worth drowning a guy for?...Maybe you should stay away from the streams.

Hey 8 point. These fish are my cats future. I keep a limit everytime I go(which is often) and take them home, boil the whole fish, let cool two hours. I then grind everything with meat grinder and can it for my cats. I have 45 cats and probably 100 lbs of steelhead.Next time you see a guy with his limit strung on a yellow rope stringer carrying a fly rod and wearing a dark blue knit hat and sunglasses....thats me! I drive a 2009 white F-150 with matching cap and my rear bumper has a dent on the drivers side where I backed into a tree when cutting firewood. If you ever see me and want to donate any unwanted steelhead to me just throw them in the bed of my truck. I'll take all I can get..Thanks and happy fish killing man.See ya on the stream!

Cats are good. Dont deny it. Everyone love chinese food! When I rope 'em I use a neon green rope wrapped around a tree branch. I works as a tee handle also dispatchin those pesky russians when they try to shanghi those eggs while ur draggin out!

I love all my cats and so do the local Chinese restaurants, they bring a pretty good price if they are healthy and skinned.

    What's a "Jack"?

I've never caught one,so I don't know what it is.

Is Jack another name for a Goby? If so, then I have caught a few.
