Considering the decimated Deer population round my place up by Pulaski I didnt even buy tags this year. Had 2 blocks and 2 corn feeders out back of my place all year- saw one Doe come through bout a month ago - She walked right through and never looked at that stuff- a newcomer passin by.
Dont hunt over them of course but like to see stuff all Spring and Summer out the kitchen window when I'm up there each coupla weeks for a few days.
Coons and Crows loved that corn and the salt has never been touched since late March. Got 4 Apple trees I spray and prune and last year and this year they are rotting on the ground- used to be picked clean.
4 years ago had Deer and Turkey in the backyard along the back woods each and every am and pm- Turkey during the day too. Now one hen with 2 late poults during the Summer- they disappeared bout late August.
Seems like a good argument for NO DOE tags for a few years. See some in the fields in the area bout dark but NOT like it was only a few years ago- That early hard Winter bout 3 years ago did big damage.
Been huntin Deer for 50 years or more and have NEVER seen a place go so dead so quick. I dont run around puttin pressure on them either- actually didnt go into my woods once this Summer just so I wouldnt push anything that may be tryin to re=establish. Didnt even take a hike to check up on my stands.
First year there ( 4 yrs ago) had no salt or corn out and they were in the yard all the time eating any how -when I started feeding it was GREAT for a while then- zippo. Even raked the dirt around my feeders to check for tracks happening when I wasnt there -nada- all year.Last year just about as bad too.

Sat start to close. Heard 3-400 shots. Unfortunately, none of them were mine.

Off to bed for some much needed rest. Alarm is set for 430. I love Sunday hunting.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.
