aborted get together

To anyone who showed up at my place Friday- sorry bout that- I pride myself with never bein late and always keeping my word no matter what- The Storm changed that.
In a City of over 50,000 we had well over 43,000 out of power for bout  the whole week with many many impassable roads and a VERY poor response from the power Co. My juice went out  sat evening and the entire City only had 3 power trucks show up in the first 4 days. Snapped poles in the roads and lines down most everywhere. Gas lines- then no gas at all. City looks like it was bombed with all the big trees down.
As a City Councilor it was imerative that I remain and be involved in the process. Shelters open with military MREs bein handed out  Hospitol working at 80% power, nursing homes a week without power as were most senior housing complexes, coordination of a variety of services etc etc etc.
Tried to get on line early but no go for any of that around here till late today. Many still out of Juice. WiFi--no help.
Wife had to run off to Tenessee early Sunday as her dad had a stroke and I was here at the house taking care of other family huddled round the woodstove- Foil wrapped meals done on the stove for days. I HATE cold showers but the water kept on running despite our main supply having a bad generator.
Stuck here now for the cleanup and continued restoration efforts during my favorite part of the season and Tuesdays election.- oh well, the father in law is doin better and the juice came back on late today- at least for now.
         Winter Steel-
  get together-- next season

    aborted..
RT sounds like a mess there. Hunting became top of my list here.. Today was such a wonderful day to be outdoors.. That said I drove the back way to deer camp and really seen the carnage locally from Irene.. I mean streams re routed and houses gone..
But still a sign at a devastated homestead said "**** Happens" what an out look..

Seen plenty deer today , harvested none..
Our pond remained frozen all day.. I will be fishing the SR end of this week then sitting in the woods to add food supply next week.. How long that takes ?
If ice and cold weather invades then auger will come out. If not the rods will stay in tune..

At least a few multi species for me have come to put a smile on my face so far.
    Hope to see you soon..

Good luck with Bambi Tuna. - passed on the Ny tags this year and the bow tags here in CT- good thing -saved a tone of dinero and wound up not having the time anyway.
Cant wait till rifle season in 2 weeks and then muzzel blaster here in Ct. Lots of deer here this year. No mast crop worth a darn and this storm put down what little was left but thats huntin- they are out there.
Just talked to the wife bout maybe gettin up to Sr country late next week- maybe Friday and Sat - Steely browns - hope- hope hope

Trev, sorry you had a rough week. Glad it's going back to normal. I'll be fishing next Sat. and Sun.,  Hoping for browns and steel, too.   I stopped hunting awhile ago. The rivers around me get any more ruined,  and those corn munchers are going to be freezer fodder again. I've got  access to   lots of farmland.

Was hopin to get up for some fishin in nice weather after the dismal week here but it looks kinda sooty for Fri and Sat - dont care --wanna fish. Will probably be up above @ between Tressel and the vines fishing the runs for Steel at first and then perhaps the zones.
After a few weeks away the darned yard probably gotta be mowed for the last time this year too. did leaves the last two trips - hope they stayed off.
