The moment of truth. Where all other things unconsciously melt away from our minds the instant a fish takes our fly. We stand there on the water with wide eyes, caught in a battle stance with an idea of confidence and hope

Haha that's crazy..but that fish was in the river a while, clean, full fins...hopefully it spreads the genes around (if it was actually a cuttbow)

A lot of little fingerling in there that will really smash a bug on the swing..target current breaks and slack pools for the bigger guys. I had something huge on with a nymph rig but the line broke at the indicator.

Well, this weekend I spent a lot of time eating crap food, watching football, sleeping in, and studying. After reading this thread, and the recently posted threads in the general pa fishing section, I feel like a horses arse because I spent a great weekend indoors instead of getting some fishing it.

Nice fish, guys. I probably should make a trip up to the yough before winter really sets in. I have never fly fished the yough, is it a productive trout stream? I have done some canoe floats for smallies, and I have never caught a trout out of the yough.

The more time I spend on the water the more I figured it out. It's always been hit or miss for me but the last couple outings I have managed at least a couple fish. But yeah there are a ton of trout throughout, definitely big fish to be had there as well.

Undoubtedly the biggest stream trout I have ever seen was when I was whitewater rafting in Ohiopyle, directly down from Dimple rock. It was a rainbow that was without a doubt every bit of 35 inches and atleast 12 lbs, but where it was holding you could never get an offering to it no matter what you did. They fingerling that section yearly, along with the fish that are in there from other streams that are stocked, as well as some residents that have just been there. It is a humbler though, but you are rewarded when you do catch.

Seven Springs stocks cutbows in that fishing pond on their property, right? I've never been there. Is that pond's outlet in anyway connected to the headwaters of Laurel Hill Creek? If so, some fish could make it to the river from there. It's not a short distance, but it could happen. Also, the PFBC has been buying trout from North Carolina recently, I believe. That's another possible explanation.

Dnymph Allen run is a tributary that runs off Gosling Lake, It runs into Laurel Hill at Trent, which then runs into the casselman at Ramcatt. Far, but I won't rule it out. Apparently 7 Springs has ramped up their trout program, but I don't know of any other drainage's on the property that don't drain into Laurel Hill.

it also could have been washed down meadow from the club water... which i'm sure is filled with genetic messes but it looks to be a bit small for their tastes

I have caught a number of fish over the years with markings similar to those pictured, which were all in put and take streams. I just assumed it was some type of variance coming from PA's pellethead factories.

I think it's a cutbow. I caught one in Beaver County a few years back and it coudn't be anything but. I think a few get mixed in and who really knows what the state does for sure. There have been wolves killed in Pa. How'd they get here.
