of deer jerkey and steelhead fishing

Wednesday of last week i was lucky enough to drop the hammer on a nice fat doe. a few days later i was rewarded with a nice 8lb. sack of jerkey. with my luck running on full i figured to head out on firday evening to see if i could land a buck, i wasn't on stand for 2 hours and a big wide 9 point walked within bow range. my aim was true and 25yds. later my buck fell dead. with the buck home and hanging in ma garage i figured saturday morning i would head to erie for some steelhead action, my luck was couldn't let me down and with a streak like this it seemed for sure a double digit steelhead was a give in. with images of a beautiful chrome 17 pounder jumping through my mind the trip was started. 5lbs. of jerkey tank full of gas and my fishing gear was all i was gonna need. 6:30 am found myself at the access of a well fished tributary of lake erie for the first two hours the bite was on!!!! after landing 8-10 nice sized fish the action cooled and i figured to start moving to find some unabused steel. after a few more hours of no action i decided to make one more move as i turned around to leave the stream my boot caught on a piece of rebar and down i went. i came up out of the water caughing and sputtering trying to catch my breath. lucky for me no holes in my waders and not too wet i felt like my luck again saved the day. but upon arrival to the next spot on the stream my line got snagged and i broke off, that's when i realized all my jigs were gone!!! what was i to do, that's when i remembered my jerkey. across the stream was a tree with plenty of hooks weight and floats that i could salvage. so i did my best to retrieve as much tackle as i could walked a little further down stream to a nice hole tied up tore a small strip of jerkey and strung it on the hook. on the third drift my float went under i set the hook only to see a small gobey fly over my head and onto the bank. fourth drift offered a very good strike but i missed a little too late on the draw i guess. on the fifth drift again my float went under set the hook and my eyes just about blew out of my head a massive brown broke the surface and tore off up stream. with my reels drag screaming i fought the monster fish with all i had. not long later feeling i had the fish tired enought to land as i got him to shore i realized just how big he was way above the 10lb. mark i figured around 18lbs. easy with one more surge he was gone.... so i guess my luck finally decided to crap out on me, but you can bet every time i head to the tribs for some steelhead action i will bring plenty of deer jerkey!!!!!! although this never happened it is always nice to share some real fishing stories

TIGHT LINES ALL!!!!!!!!!!

Nice try, not a big difference from other stories posted here, except at least you told us it wasn't true. I liked the 8# bag of jerky, better save that for the ice derby. sam
