Stuck a Pig Today

Had a few hours to fish this evening and decided to make the best of it before the rain blew in. At the car, I had my 000wt strung up and ready to go from yesterday, but at the last minute decided to toss streamers with my 4wt instead. After the first hour or so with nothing bigger than a 4" smallie, I moved to a different spot. A few casts later, I was into this:

Biggest trout of 2011 by far...I'll have to measure my 4wt to get a rough size estimate, but it might be a PB trout for me. Oddly, my two biggest trout have been tigers.

    Lmao, **** right its stormtrooper sheet.

    And yeah, Tim, when I finally got it to hand I thought it was foul hooked too, but the fly just must've worked in around the edge of that upper jaw. Or maybe that's just where I stuck it after I pulled the fly out of it's back.

    Definitely a trout. Though as I was fighting it, it stayed deep and kept thrashing, and with that fairly uniform color, I was thinking it might have been a walleye (never got one at this spot, though I've heard from other people that they're in there).

    Sweet looking fish, Cold. Nice hawl. Congrats.

    Nice fish, don't see any Tiger's around my parts, are they not invasive to other trout in the creeks

    I like that white fly line with the blaze orange backing, sweet..by the way...what type of reel is that ?

     I read they are sterile so they can not breed much like a Mule!

    Like Casino said, they're sterile, so it's kind of hard for them to be invasive, aside from the issue of the browns in a naturally sustaining brookie stream possibly being invasive.

    The line is actually like a baby $hit green, but you can't tell from the pic, and the reel is a Loop EvoTec, one of my favorite reels. :)

    That fish looks a lot like a lake trout to me...

    It's most definitely not. It was caught miles from the nearest laker. If this is a laker then we gotta stop picking on th epeople that think there's steelhead in the loyalhanna. :P

    I imagine there were crowds at your creek of choice;

    Fishing...not a soul, except for me. ;) Now come April, it's a different story, but from late summer till March, you can usually expect to have plenty of elbow room.

    Thanks everyone, for the kind words. I usually fish for wild fish in tiny streams around here...it was nice to be able to put a bend in the rod. :)
