Just read the other reports, if you've trolled around this sight for any period of time, you know questions like that don't get straight answers. Just read lots and read between the lines. You'll figure it out. Good luck.

Elk always has a channel into the lake and not too many major obstructions for the fish to pass.  Being that there has been fish around for a few weeks now, they should be moving into the "upper parts of the lower half" of the stream now, if that makes sense.

There are fish around though, go up and have at it.

The fish are as far north as they can get on both creeks.

Hey Butler all I have to say I was gentle. These guys are rough here.

But since you singled me out.

If you have been fishing here for 29 years, then why don't you already know the answer.

    Just sayin'

Now I am coming up from WV this sunday and I would bet u can find a few fish in just about any stretch.  However, some pods/schools maybe a long ways behind others.  So put on ur walking shoes and go find them.
You can answer this question yourself by checking the weather forcast and stream gages.  A few good rains and lower temps will push the fish upstream.  With the right conditions itt is quite amazing how fast these fish can shoot up the streams.

They must be walking if they got up Walnut as far as they can.

You have to walk before you can run.

They were moving pretty good on Sunday at Walnut in spite of the low water.

Two things...by this time EVERY year, there are fish up to the upper/middle stretches of the creeks. Thats a fact, because I've either got reports from friends or caught them this early. Be one of those guys and find out....that simple. If your question is..."Is it worth a 4 hr or 2 hr jont up there to fish a weekend?" That depends on what you're looking for....If you're looking for numbers - the answer is NO, if you're just looking to shake off the dust and do some venturing/scouting with the hopes and possibilities of catching a few - then your answer is certainly YES. As a rule, this time of year, the higher you go the less your chances
