smallies

finally got a few hours to fish today and tried out some new water. Didn't find the spot I heard about but did decent anyway. Just spooled up w that new nanofil line in 3lb test for fall trout. It did fairly well on the smallies. Broke off the second fish I hooked, adjusted the drag a lil and was fine the rest of the day, except 2 snags. Caught about a dozen Sm and one lil rock bass. All on chubs and sz 10 hooks and not one was gut hooked

Absolutely recommend it. It is Fireline on steroids. Great stuff. I bought a spool @ D!$ks in Cranberry and like it a lot.

The line handles very well its perfectly round and smooth and silent through the guides, but its floating and 0 stretch like braid. Obviously haven't had it long enough to say how the memory is cuz I just spooled up. The 3lb breaks very very easy though, like, considerably easier than the fins windtamer 4lb braid I had on the other rod w me. And they recommend using their 2 special knots for tying. I had 2 palomar knots either break or slip, not sure. The nanofil knot looks just like a palomar xcept when you tie the overhand knot w the doubled line you loop it through twice instead of once. And they recommend a double albright for splicing. 2 slight variations on knots I already know so its no biggie for me. All in all I like it but was expecting a little bit more strength. But hey its 3lb test

I like the feel of it and I want to try it, but I have a problem getting over the color.  I HATE white line.  Spooled with Fireline Crystal once....looked like rope in the water.  It was on my reel for one trip.  If there was a green version of Nanofil, it would already be on my reels.

The water was clear w about 3' visibility and I didn't use a flouro leader. Got hits almost every cast when I got to each new spot too. The line was somewhat stained after less than 4 hrs fishing. But I think that's a good thing. I don't like the fireline crystal either.
