Where are the smallies?

Heading to Erie, PA for a few days and hope to get out with dad. Any idea how the bite has been and at what depth are they this time of year? We usually fish in the spring and summer but never this late in the year. Thanks!!

    Just got back from a smallie trip this weekend.  IT ABSOLUTELY SUCKED.  We managed to boat 6 on Saturday.  5 of them were from Shades Beach area in 30'.  My wife got the big one (4#11oz) of the trip from 15' at the Cribs.  Today, I got 2 from the same area at Shades.  My friends had more success today in the 40' depth.
