Fished from the state parking lot (actually the 4 car mudhole) down a fair bit. I wanted to get away from the crowds because whenever I go by a parking lot I remember why I too a 10 year vacation from the river. The beavers have done a good job since last year and the partial dam from last year across from Mattisons farm is now complete and 18 inches tall or so. Should be fun watching the jump up that. I saw 4 fish all below the dam had about 5 casts at them and actually dropped my fly on the snout of one and it just shook it off, it stuck around for a few more tries until the only other 3 guys on the whole brook decided to flounder through the water 20 feet from where I was casting muddying up the pool and spooking them to god knows where. Needless to say I let them know how I felt when they asked me if I had seen anything. I did not get skunked though I caught 3 chubs the biggest at about 8 inches. Fished a little bit at Ellis cove, but had to stick by the road as I only had about 40 minutes before sunset. There were several hookups. Many were dragging fish out. Lots cohos, I saw a 14 lb brown, a few kings and a guy who was proud of the first steelhead he caught. I did not have the heart to tell him it was a coho. Maybe back up today if I get my wood in and my lawn mowed.
