General Fishing
It kind of turned me off about bashing peoples fishing style and their tools.. Obviously un ethical manner does not apply to what I'm saying.. Have said all along I employ all the tools of fishing at my disposal to try and fool my quarry into striking or eating an offering.. We fish with a common goal, to catch fish.. If one is stuck in a single method that may be fine for them but don't say others are not correct.. All folks are created equal until they themselves hit that fork in the road.. So if one spin fishes, center pins, fly fishes, uses tip-ups, trolls or what have you it is all one and the same to me .. Fishing !! It's how you conduct your self while partaking in the sport that matters.. To stereotype all folks who use one method or what ever as being bad , well that is just plain wrong and selfish.. Sorry it bugged the hell out of me , but had to say it.. I welcome all fishers to this forum

I am ok with my breathables, I am ok with your camo neoprenes. I am ok with my Cortland and Okuma, I am ok with your Sage or Orvis I am ok with my BAC-Erie hat, I am OK with your NASCAR or Patagonia hat Just be polite and pick up after yourself. Some people come by you and fish and you are happy they did. Some people come by you and fish and when they leave you are happy they did.

Said perfectly tuna.... im for sure on the same page as you... I feel as if ego can sometimes come in to play for certain anglers; almost as if they are better than you because of the way they do it... this is why I've been picking up the spin rod from time to time more often for the past 3 years now.... fishing is fishing plain and simple

Hey Dime maybe you could throw another get together. This time with a drum circle followed by a group hug! As you can see from my post about my varied fishing styles ,left out boober fishing and bottom bouncing both with spinning rods, I have little problem with how people fish as long as its legal. I fish the way I get the most pleasure.

Next time we can do it at my place- without the group hugging though. Would be open to a cold weather get together -before the snow so we can still do a fire outside. Maybee in Nov or early Dec.- Seems that there is most always a few of us around for a decent evening. If not - next seasons OK too.

Early Nov hopefuly before the first real cold snap would be nice. To me the steel change from hot fall fish into sluggish winter fish overnight when that happens. Just my feelings. Generous offer!

HT , Well said and Thank Yor for saying it. As an extreme Newbie to the forum and a novice at this type of fishing, my opinion is not worth all that much. I have spent the majority of my life fishing for all different species with many different techniques. Without a doubt fishing for winter steelhead has been the most challenging. I am sure I have made mistakes and I will conitnue to make more. Having a forum like this this that can help someone not only learn how to improve thier catch , but also teach some of the history and point them away from some of the less ethical ways is invaluable not only to the new angler but also to the fishery. Once again Thanks Cape

Cape - if you fish for local trout, besides beefing up your rod, reel & line the same tactics work on Steel. HT - great idea about stopping the BBng - in a week or 2 you will be whining that you are the only one posting here. (at least Slammo freely admits he hate pinners - but at least he hates snaggers more). The day that Slammo kneels at the altar to eat a vanilla wafer via the Kumbaya Campfire is the Day I turn in my login ID. p.s. egos???? bbwwaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The crows were so pizzed off this morning (and later dead), that I'm gonna eBay the centerpin outfit then use said proceeds to buy cases upon cases of 12ga high brass 6 shells. I could have fried an egg on my gun barrel. I luv the smell of gun powder on a damp dank morning - hangs around in the air like gonja fumes at a rock concert. later d00ds

With that being said; start by picking one way you feel comfortable fishing... try to perfect it or at the least have some success with it... then move on to the next; don't try to conquer the whole world at once If one were to ask me what the mist important aspect of any method is; I would say "presentation"... good luck with you're new addiction to steelhead; and remeber as most other addictions; it can get the best of ya

I think its the difference between poking and bickering. First one is fun second is depressing. A fine line I admit. Its when people start taking it , and I include myself, taking the gorglenets too serious it becomes boring.

Since I've yet to pull a fish out of the inside of my monitor, doesn't seem like much fun to be insulted by it. Yeah, it's not serious, but it's tedious. I'll go back to HT's original thought, which was good, and on that note ,fade out....

Not to be a wise guy - but how often can folks talk about the same content? - whether it be fishy related or not? Talk about tedious. If a new guy comes here and asks a pertinent question - he gets info - right down to details including suggested spots to fish. It's not like he's getting slammed to post up retarded boobs&pie with an intro.... Look around - guides don't even post reports anymore - pick any SR related website you want. At least RJ does a weekly drive by here - without pics - can't blame him there - I'm sure he's tired after a full day and the hourly rate don't cut the cake for night shift photo generator. Last time I checked, I fail to see anyone getting blasted here for keeping a fish or running their finger next to/under a gill plate - or God Forbid - keeping a TROUT. Most folks only get a trip or two up north per year. Guys that fish their local waters don't feel the need to post pics of 15" trout - especially laying on a wet rock. I'll refrain from using that dreaded 3 letter word. Gotta give credit too - at least the guys that do post up pics here don't black out the background like their protecting CIA secrets on the SR Main Stem... (now that's tedius retardedness)... Fichy - keep catching the big ones, we'll keep lookin at them. Tight Lines.

DB, Thanks, that is one of the toughest things : is being willing to try different things when nothing seems to work, To easy to fall back to what worked last time. I really think that winter steelhead fishing has made me a better angler in my other angling pursuits. Especially when it comes to concentration, persistence and confidence. Tx Cape

Keep with it cape; its all fun in the end... Drake I have noticed the reduction of actual reports... I was shocked by the amount of pics and detailed reports that mmf had back as early as midaugust; let alone it was mostly from locals.... but now since the season has started they have toned itdown for sure.... has the salmon river reached a milestone in which the majority of its anglers rely on the internet???? Hmmmmmmm...... thoughts anyone????? What happened to the days of figuring out yourself????? Or actual trial and error... no Google no nothing.... you had to do it yourself.... some how I feel like im stuck between a rock and a hard place
