THIS WEEKEND
Nice to read all of the posts this year. Esp. all of you "master anglers" meeting up on the river. Sounded like a reel cool experience. I finally get to make the trek up on Friday night and fish the weekend. I know the weekends suck compared to the rest of the week but it's the only time I can get. Was planning on starting at Ellis and working my way down on Saturday. Met some real cool older gents there last yaer and hoping to run into them again. These 2 guys were real ****ers. I stood there and got tutored by them for an hour. Definately my best time on the river so far. The one guy sounded just like Burt Lancaster. lol. I will send a report as soon as I get home since I don't have a cool phone. Any tips on what has been successful lately would be appreciated. As would a nice run of fish. I am a lways a day early or late and have yet to see one. Best of Luck CP

well, Red or Orange bunny leeches worked well for the ho's.. The kings were real grabby on pink bunnies, the Ho's wouldn’t touch them.. Keep changing color/size until you find the "one" The best approach was an across/down swing.. A lot of times they would hit the fly at full down stream so let it dangle there then strip it in.. Mid Colum were the aggressive fish. Use as little shot as possible and keep it about 18" from your fly.. I was using 12# tippet but got pizzed and went to 20#.. I think 12 upstream would be fine.. This will work be it fly rod or spin but you need room. Try not to stand in a crowd.. Good luck and give us a report back..

AGREED! There was a day that pink bunny ruled the world for kings. My next outing a red and chartuse fly was the definate favorite. Have red and ornge flies also cause each has had its moments. If your a swinger across and down is where its at. Good luck on your trip.

Best of luck. With the shallow water I aways had luck with darker colors for the most part if not it was chartuse.

I never got a strike on pink in 3 days fishing and I rotated it in often enough. Red was crap too. Orange, Blue/Black & Chartruce got all my action.

Were those all bunnie leeches, or streamers, and comets. With all of the rainy days coming I have been kinda hoping a push might make it up there. It's such a nice area. I would love to try and come back up towards the latter part of October when the crowds die down and see what it looks like up there then. Or is it all just floating carcasses. lol. Thank you for all of the input folks, I really appreciate it. Your all a good group of guys. CP

Later October king wise my luck with the dead ones stacked up in the pools. They can sure put up a fight when they get hooked and float towards a shute.

Comets worked best for me. It's all in what they're in the mood for when you're fishing a pool I guess. The Big Coho was on a Chartruce Bunny fly with Black/Char. collar. It was overcast.

If I go that late the Steel Rod will be with me as well. I have never fished the SR. specifically for STEEL. Did most of that out in erie. Use to have a great time on Walnut and Elk creeks. Use to do great on a peach sucker spawn tipped with a maggot. (older gent beside me showed me that one). I have not had nearly the same success with Salmon as with steel, but what a fight.lol Amazing what you learn from people. Between differnt lines leaders, knots. I guess between wife, 2 little ones, and 21 more in my class it's just nice not to have anyone calling for me, yelling for me, crying, and all the other joys of life.lol
