I have Simms freestones with rubber soles that I bought this year. I have fished Meadow Run with them. I bought their studs and decided to wait and try out the rubber without studs to see how they performed. I have not felt the need to put the studs in yet, they have been that good. But then again, I have perfect balance, all the time. 
Its good to hear that someone on here, with what seems to be a whole lot of fishing knowledge and experience (5,000+ post), has the same boots that I just ordered. I am hoping to love the boots! I plan on making a trip to FishUSA to pick up a pair of Simms HardBite Star Cleats. I just hope they provide excellent traction and I do not need to worry about slipping. I also thought it was a great deal for a pair of Simms. $109 isn't that steep. If I do not like them when I receive them, I will return and probably lean toward their Guide boots or a pair of Korkers. Thanks for all the great replies to this post. It is greatly appreciated.

I have the Chotas with relaceable studs and can tell you they are extremely comfortable

Kev how are the slippers? Was looking at getting a pair of those when I order my boots also. How do the sizes run for the boots and slippers?

fancy slippers= comfort not a ton of cushioning... but thats expected sturdy the heel is made to be a heel or compressed for slide-on-ability sizing? I have size 11 korkers boots and sz 11 fancy slippers

i bought a pair of korkers redsides after my chota stl's bit the dust. The chotas would shrink almost what felt to be a shoe size each time they dried out then would relax or loosen after they were back in the water a while. They wear like iron though ! These Korkers redsides don't seem to be going to hold up as well as the chotas. My friend has a pair of redisides six months old and he is sending em back ! Time wil tell. fingers crossed because it is a good concept with the soles and they are extremely comfortable to wear and dry very quickly.

That is the problem I am running into with my Chota STLs, they shrink alot when dry and weigh a ton in my opinion, but I haven't held the Korker's either.

Received the Simms Freestone's and I decided to send them back. They were all leather (the 2010 editions) and I was told that they have a tendency to shrink after drying. I ended up buying the Simms Rivershed Vibram's. I really did not want to spend that much money but after paying about $120 for the Freestone's, I said to myself, I mi-swell spend another $50 and have a pair that will last sometime. They seem to get great reviews so I am keeping my fingers crossed. I hope I like em'!
