I came home yesterday with a real bad cold that I endured during my 4.5 hour drive.Crawled into bed and tried to sweat it out and get some sleep.Just got on the puter and got on the board to read some good fishing stuff and went to this thread. Now I'm depressed and going back to bed, here I thought everything was pristine in Salmon Country.

Pharm chems are well known.
The hermaphrodite bass in the Potomic have been studied for years.
Is it better to improve technology and look for new pollutent threats or wait til men have tits and women have nuts before we decide to deal with the problem?

goodpoint; wb....

As james brown said though.... "if it ain't one thing its another".... it for sure is a never ending battle and its poor saps like ourselves who end up footing the bill for a lot of it...

You would be amazed at the prescription drug thing in the water & how costly its gonna get to eliminate that stuff as only one example-. My point was that those things are in the rural leach field system too  The Urban system is addresing them cause of municipal sewer systems.
Answer - dont know---cept to say its here with us and probably to a great extent here ta stay.
.

Not in my rural leach field - my expired scripts go to the compost pile---> and my tomato plants are always smiling....

Earlier in this thread ----> synthetic organics-----> WTF???

Electric cars - plug it in and the fairy godmother juices it up via Green Energy Sources (oil, coal). Laughable.... RT - you think you can make it to the SR on a single charge of a $45,000+ Govt Motors Chevy Volt Car?

Ethanol - last night in the supermarket I was astonished to see a 2 lb pk of hamburg at $7 - Corn for Fuel instead of food... Brilliant...

I honestly wish I lived back in the early 1900's, the hypocrisy of everything (and the fact that millions of nitwits believe in it) makes me wanna puke.

Rant over....

not harping at you - just harpin at

Thats right DB.

A chem comp like Hooker makes hundreds of millions in profit, some of it because it was cheaper to illegaly dump waste than to dispose of it properly.
My number may be wrong since it was 30 years ago but it takes something like 3500 degrees F to burn the mirex and dioxin.
And they go bankrupt, Oxidental buys them, fights in court for decades, and like Mobile with the Valdez, settle on paying 12 stinking million dollars leaving us all to pay for there muckup!

interweb and bobbers ruined the steelie fishin.

as a part-time pinhead (Caveman in Metalesque speak), I completely agree with your atatement.

Never thought I'd see the day when fishing with a F'n bare hook was not only in-vogue - but LEGAL.

The bead cases guys carry remind me of the 7day pill dispensers that the pillsbury crowd clutch in their trembling hands....

I made the mistake of turning on the boob tube last night to watch the news and I lapsed into one of them Hollywood admirer shows - wanted to see if Charlie Sheen was still WINNING - never watched the Dancin Freak show. The early kudos to Chas made me burp up my supper and I turned it off. Heck I pulled the Plug on Direct TV over 2 years ago - amplified rabbit ears gets me 10 channels - if I do watch TV at all.
A little bit of NFL football, Burn Notice (love the Irish Assassin chickie Fiona) and PBS Frontline is about allz I can take.

Expiration Dates?? - puts mo $ in doc's/big pharma pockets...
WD - that is a great question. If the pills expire why is RT supporting a $25M sewer plant upgrade?

gottza run

Agree for the most part but new technology is rapidly changing the whole picture right now discovering trace stuff we didnt  suspect even a decade ago.
When we started the new plant it was bout an 18 mil project- few yrs ago in planning- since then with new tech discovering stuff that has always been there and nobody knew it- along with rapidly changing 'acceptable levels'- the price has doubled and we have had 3  'upgrades' during construction and we are aware of at least one upcoming upgrade mandate in the next coupla years. All equal to millions of mandated expenditures.
As they 'FIND' stuff there are mandates to controll it and its COSTLY to say the least. Unfortunately its NOT new stuff so we have been living with it right along unknowingly.
You would be amazed at the prescription drug thing in the water & how costly its gonna get to eliminate that stuff as only one example-. My point was that those things are in the rural leach field system too  The Urban system is addresing them cause of municipal sewer systems.

if you want I can show you some spots on the river grew up on it and know a little about it.

Cool! I've fished  it heavy and had a smallmouth guiding business on it, but new places are always good. I know plenty upriver and on the Hoosick, too. I may sneak  over there an evening this weekend.  I'll send you a PM with my cell #.  I've never fished below the second  island and in the slow deep stuff between the rail bridge and the dam, maybe you can tell me if it's worth an effort. Oh yeah, I don't guide anymore and don't give out info. Guiding ruined my fishing.
