The 7 day forecast is making me antsy in my pantsy

Not sure about you guys, but I just checked the forecast for Erie and this Rain is looking very promising. We are already behind schedule compared to last year... I am feeling a push coming in the next week or so!

What do y'all think?

Don't need showers. Need a RAIN event! Got to blow open the mouths of the creeks.

We don't need a blow out.  We need steady cool rain: below 55 degrees.  I've lived in the Erie area for 30 years and been fishing steel for 22 years and the best years I've had have been years with steady water levels with enough rain to keep some color to the water.  If water is flowing out of the mouth then it is enough for them to get into the streams.  The water in the streams and in the lake are just too warm still.  That is why the boats are still seeing the steelhead out in the deep water and not as many staging at the mouths.  Think cool and wet thoughts...

It has been raining for a few hours already and they are predicting around 1/2" for the overnight. I would think there would at least be a few fish in the streams if we get as much as they are saying. Just keep an eye on the stream flow, if it goes over 200-300 then it couldn't hurt to try at least. You know what they say about a bad day of fishing though...

NOT going in for OT tomorrow. gettin my stuff together and drinking a bottle of Cab Franc. will be at a stream mouth before the sun comes up tomorrow. woohoo!!! really think the fish that are staging will be up stream for at least a little while tomorrow morning. NOAA saying lake temp. still at 70, these nights and this rain should start knocking it down.  will post report tomorrow whether good or bad.

Streams have plenty of water in them already compared to past seasons. Theres more than enough water for them to get into the streams. There will be a nice bunch of fish around this weekend, REGARDLESS of rain.

Bro, theres been fish in several streams, and more than a few in certain places... go catch them.

Should I have just told everyone to gather the kids and pack the cooler there's fish a'plenty? Unless something changed over the last few days, you are just gonna create a lot of wasted gas with statements like that.

There is  6 months of steelhead fishing yet to come. If you have fished em before then you know when to drive to Erie and fish for them. Rain or no rain , lake or crick , bait or fly or hardware. 6 months. Its not like its only for 3-4 weeks. There will be plenty of fish just like every year in the past for the next 6 months.

No, but there are a few dozen fish in some places, and plenty more in others.

People are going to say it's a waste of gas in October and November, it's never good enough for some.

Whatever you think about when it's a "waste" of gas and time, I know that Tim is usually one of the first to post pics of fish he caught VERY early in the season. I think ive even seen some from him in August? So is it "the motherload?" No, but probably some fish to be caught.

Thursday when I looked at walnut on my day off there wasn't any fish past the wall. And that is not good enough for most. Now you're gonna say something like "maybe you should go out and explore to find the fish" but I am just saying that most people that read the fish are here are gonna head to walnut and be disappointed.

Guys, I know that all of you that read and respond to these messages do not need any telling when the fish are there. And even if there isn't any fish, you will cherish the time on the water since it's better then working any time, any day!

Now my post is not whether there is any fish in the creeks. We all know there are fish that have been coming in and leaving due to the temps. My observation and opinion whether there will be a decent run this weekend is due to the steadily drop in temps and the steady forecast of rain. Well that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

We could have absolutely NO rain for the next month and the streams will STILL be polluted with too many fish and fisherman!

THATS the ONLY fact in this thread!
