Fall smallmouth

Just wondering how the fall smallmouth fishing is and where they may be located.I know in the spring it is good just inside the bay by the monument and just outside the bay along the shoreline. Will they locate in those locations again in the fall ? Any help would be great.God Bless,Hock

The fall smallmouth fishing is great. The Smallies are in the bay in the spring to spawn. They don't really move in until the spring. They stay in the lake for the fall. Near shore fishing 10-30 f.o.w. east of P.I. Bay is pretty good place to start. Try putting in at shades beach if you have a smaller boat. They should be putting there feed bags on pretty soon. Drop shot is the ticket out in the main lake. Live bait-emeralds, crawlers, leeches, and crawfish are pretty good. Soft plastics aren't bad either. Look for humps and drop offs, those smallies love that structure on the east side.
Those fish really get a nice bronze color in the fall. I might give it a shot this Saturday. We may also try to troll for some trout out front of 16 & 20 mile. Maybe some perch jerking too.

It sounds like you will be fishing from a boat. I was fishing from shore Monday and it was very slow in the morning, completely dying off in the afternoon. Beautiful day to be off work and fishing, but not so good for catching. Good luck.

Go around Thompson Bay and off of east ave you catch a bunch. Trust me they get annoying trolling for steelhead as much as I love catching the things

Thanks we will give it a shot. Thompson bay for the steelies. Never fished there before. Hopefully all this north wind doesn't destroy the near shore fishing for the weekend. It may be a bit merky.
