I have heard the causeway for crappie and walleye.... When I went to the one bait store they had a few recent pics of walleyes (20+ inch range) taken down around orchard and snodgrass area...

crawlers were the most popular ticket but there were a couple on minnows.

I will probably be up there as well... maybe I will see you up there.

Fly....know if they were fishing from shore or a boat? I'll most likely be out on the boat.

i fished last weekend and the bite was real slow. we did manage 4 smallmouth. largest being 14 inches. do you guys think with the weather getting cooler, it will make much of a difference for this weekend or is it to soon? btw fishing from a boat.
    thanks in advance.

Fished the outflow last weekend prior to the nasty storm that plowed through and had nothing really to show for it aside from a few nice big gills and few small crappie, heading back up next weekend I think maybe con the gf in to fishing the spillway area or even near the causeway or even the lake side of the dam and not the river...

Fished it on 9/17 for a few hours, water 69 to 70. Fished Jamestown area, lots of boats grouped up but never saw much going on. My son picked up one small walleye on a worm rig.

well............i am now able to answer my question from earlier this week. the water cooling down to 65-67 degrees may have actually made fishing worse. caught a few perch. just south of the causeway.

The secret to catching fish there is stay away from the crowds and move often if they're not biting.

No walleyes but some pretty good crappies. All on new tripletail baits from www.microspoons.com that they added to their line this season.

Nice catch, kinda hard to really hit it with the whole crew on board. May make a solo run to Shenango next weekend for crappies, save me a few.

Haven't fished shenango in a couple weeks, i think. Been doing to well at pymy to fish there. Will head up when the water cools down some more. 65* is what i'm waiting for. Good luck there.

I fished the causeway Saturday morning with my dad & sister.  We caught about a dozen perch, six being nice keeper size, and one 16" walleye.

Drop a minnie to the bottom over the telephone poles and hang on. No luck there move out a little from the point headed towards the causeway. If all else fails tie on a number 6 doughball combo at the spillway and give your arms a workout
