I haven't used an emerald all year for perch if thats what you're going for(been using goldens chopped). I'd call Jack at Snug Harbor if you're dead set on emeralds. 1-440-593-3755

the last 2 times i was up for perch it didnt matter. the first time no emeralds and 10 guys limited out by 10am, and the second time had goldens and emeralds and it didnt matter which 1 you had on your hooks. the perch where on before your rig even got to the bottom. when it hit the bottom we would click the bell and reel strait back up and had many doubles and tripples. when it got slow for about 45 min, we counted to about 20 then reel back up. emeralds didnt make a **** difference.

    Hi Guys.
    FYI,
Do yourself a favor,,, Next time that your perchin' with emeralds, goldies, whatever, and your slamin' 'em, TRY CUT BAIT!!
Fillet out a white, yellow, anything, and give it a go.
A 3/8 x 1/2" piece of skin on a plain hook or SABIKI will catch just as many perch, or EVEN MORE,,, 'cause it'll stay on the hook 10 x LONGER!
It'll stay on so long that you should change the piece after you land 10+ perch or so, JUST TO KEEP THE BLOOD & GUT STINK DOWN THERE!

Our OLD favorite bait place started charging $4 + a doz JUST 'CAUSE THEY HAD THEM DURING A FULL MOON! NO MORE OF THAT CRAP FOR US!!

So now We stop at Skeeter on the way up, and by a doz. fatheads. Cut them in half and use them to get the ball rolling. The first 'throw-back' gets whacked, and that's all we'll use to finish our LIMITS!

GO AHEAD, GIVE IT A TRY,,, SAVE THAT $20 FOR GAS, FOR THE NEXT TRIP,,, OR A 30 PACK!

Just be careful using cut bait. Last week my friend and I ran out of bait and were using a cut white bass. Minutes later he hooked what we figured was a 30+ pound catfish. Eventually broke a perch rig with a #20 leader when the top hook got caught in the anchor rope.
