Salt- i haven't done any tube toutorials yet... buy Nick Pionesa (as dano suggested) has some great detailed info

Dano- those are euro-capes/intruder capes (name depends on who is distributing) nice super slim feathers up to 6in or so... a bit stiffer than saddle hackle (which i think will work nice)

Tippe- they all have ostrich (long black or brown material)

steelhoud- looks like you found some good marabou.. it that fist pic completely dry?

the fly is completely dry in the photo, but it had been "tupperware tested" in a bowl of water.

here I thought that was peacock hurl.
your ostrich looks very different from mine(smaller/finer maybe?), I only ever find it in white and a few random pink/purple colors at the fly shop or craft store.
    you buy them online?
I love the way it moves in the water, and so do fish.  have done a lot of white streamers with it.

i am always hunting out better ostrich... i like the super fine stuff
i really don't like the webby/fluffy stuff on the bottom of the larger plumes
But... in the water it has a thinner look

Any time i'm in a shop, i always check the ostrich and will buy even if I think i have enough
i am not a fan of the Hareline "spey plumes"... they are a bit small

    other sources
ebay- there is someone out of china selling 10 for $1... not bad quality
    scott howell- http://scotthowellflyfishing.com/categories/tying-materials
    Upstream Adventures- http://www.upstreamadventures.com/

There is also a new "intruder hackle" from spirit river this year... saw it in package, never tied with it

    AJ 1.5
    silver 2/3
    blk seal 1/3
    nat BEP
    slv rib
    teal collar
    4 blk hackles for wing

This is the first fly I tied in about four and a half months. I figured a feather wing would be a nice start. Since some bar raiser busted out a bunch all at once I got to get to the bench. I got a super fishy one coming up next. The first one is done but I guess you cant just do up one anymore. Should get it up tomorrow evening before I leave on my toothy critter weekend.

Great stuff so far! Keep it up. Gotta beat last year's thread With working a lot and dealing with a sick kid for the past month or so, I have put some time in on the vice. Here is some of what I have been working on.

    Shumakov tube

    Sig. intruders

    Flashy stuff

    Gotta have some bunny strips

Messing with some rhea and amherst

Similar to the above fly but on a tube and added some saddles, a dubbing loop head and a monster cone.

Spey variation of the Dunt Dee pattern.

    Tied on a Mustad-Chestertown 3298, size 6.

You can see the shank is offset from the point, a common feature in older hooks (which makes it a bit tricky at the vise!).

This was my first attempt to tie on a blind eye hook, but overall I'm pleased with the results. I simply furled a piece of 4X fluoro tippet to form the "poor man's gut eye".

Sam, you got it going on. They'll work just fine for ya.

    Cold, dig them colors.

Sorry but I have been pretty busy around here. Want to stay away from the junk for a bit and did up with this guy. Its based on a fly done by Bob Warren. Does this thing look like a fall fly or what?

Two of the three pictured have been given away to 2 members of my NY crew. Hopefully they'll get into a solid fish or 2 on the Catt. I did up 2 more for myself. As soon as I get a chance, this may be my first fly used this season if conditions are right. No trick photos on this close up Kev. The head is dry on this one buddy.

    I like these alot.

I tied swinger's earlier fly last weekend. Let's just say, I will fish them, but I won't post pictures of them, unless they are stuck in a fish's face.

Thanks Swinger. Interesting fly...I could see that getting grabbed!

    Nice, Cold!

Thanks D-nymph. The flashy stuff is tied on the new articulated shanks from Flymen Fishing Co. It's based on the prom dress. The bottom fly passes the drunken bathtub tests...

Mountain Man, I got lots of ticklers...Need blue hair though to make more
