checked 20,16 and walnut this morning couple guys at 20 throwing spoons got a couple whitebass and a huge sheephead no steel. walnut is so low that it looks 2 ft deep in channel no one fishing there
stopped at poor richerds aand headed home.never checked elk but doesnt seem like anythings going on anyway
try again in a week or so

Then what exactly was the point of you starting this thread, might I ask? No offense, but it's the last week of august... there is going to be a FEW fish around at least on cooler mornings. I don't care if you have shades or not, if you don't know where to look this time of year you will NOT see them. Even if you do know where to look, you still might not notice them if you're not looking hard enough.

No offense Dog99, but if they cut the stocking by half, there would still be plenty of fish! They stock alot more than deeded for these little Cricks. Just say'n!

"Dying Fishery" You're kidding right? Its Put and Take....as long as the state and 3CU continue stocking the fish, the fishery will continue to be as strong as it has been. The ONLY people I see complaining, are those who are having a harder time catching fish because of their non-progressive ways, lack of versatility or too busy biching/whining because they can't catch the already TOO MANY fish that come into the streams year after year.. 4 to 6 years ago, we had great fishing with lots of numbers simply because the weather was more than favorable for most of the winters. For one of those years, the creeks did not freeze until Feb. and it didn't last very long either since they blew out a week after. You have a mild winter, you'll see more fish caught....especially by those who are clueless...Bottom Line. I haven't had much trouble with numbers or have I been "worried" about an off year due to lack of fish returns or less fish in the streams. My off years, are results of bad timing on my behalf or other variables which are beyond my control.

Shutup, I completely agree with you. How many steelhead does one need to catch anyway? When I fish areas "other than" the streams if I get 3 to 10 steelys in a morning I call it a very good day. If I fish a stream and get 10 to 25 steelys in a morning thats considered a good day. Not as much fun catching steel in only 3 feet of water either. Still TONS of fish in the streams every year if you know where to look.

I haven't seen a bad year in about 5 years and have been very pleased with the numbers. The size of the fish has increased over the last two years without a doubt. Plus there are obviously scouts coming in and out of the creek it happens every year I have seen it already just some people don't look hard enough. Just another rain or two they'll be here

I have caught many steel in the streams this time of year its not uncommon. I have caught them as far up as legion in 85 degree temps. Theres jacks already at the mouth of trout run.

as far as seeing steel dont worry i see them when they are there
guarantee i catch more chrome in one year than most do in 10 years. i have the time
and self employment benifits to fish almost anytime i want
last year had a clicker in the car and tryed to click every fish
i forgot half the time and still had 167 in april probably caught 300 total
this is wny and pa combined chromemship ihad toi do it
