BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES

Yep, we've all seen the news but here she comes, Irene 'ol sweet Irene.. get ready boy's even if you don't get the major winds like the coast will, there will be plenty of

rain and flooding..just hope the outer bands just skirt the Tug Hill region, that would be just too much water at once. Plus the SR is still getting over last year's floods.

We'll see, stay safe and prepare.

I'm hoping that I don't lose power,I hate that cause then the well does n't work and we have to fill buckets and tubs and jugs in advance starting Saterday AM.Even though I have a flood plain on my property the house is 150' above it so there is no worries about that.
From what I see on the projected track of the storm the Salmon Country is going to get wet and there will be plenty of water this season.

Well folks; its down to a cat. 2 at this point and heading north at this point. Im noticing the forecasts have downgraded a bit but its still pretty much right on track. The path has seemed to shift to the east a bit; at this point it looks like maybe the most eastern edge of the tug hill will fall in to its most outer edge of the path. Let's wait to see what happens. For my area; the eye is centered right over us... hopefully it will downgrade more as it comes up... I don't care about the rain; id prefer winds under 60 mph though...be safe...

I heard 18' off the jersey coast. I just talked to a guy who owns a beach house below atlantic city. He just got back from boarding the place up... he said it was a ghost town down there.... even more dead than the wintertime... I feel bad for the people who had their week long summer vacation planned for starting tomorrow; ain't happening... and if all goes as they say; there may not be any beaches left; just like the storm of "44... again; be safe....

I rarely watch TV. Last night, the devil made me do it just to see what kind of hype the local weatherfool would drum up.

First he showed the National Hurricane Center's forecasted track, which indicates it will skirt the coast or veer eastward toward open water.

Then he put up his "preferred computer model" that indicated a direct hit over NEPA.

Got me so worked up that I sent him an email notifying him that he is a nitwit.

I hope the storm fizzles out to prevent damage to peeps & property.

My money is on a crying wolf.

It's a little late to do that, but that would be the answer.I've been in this house for 19 yrs and only lost power for a extended period one time, that was three days. And that is surprising 'cause I live in a wooded valley and all the power lines run near a lot of trees. But we never had this kind of potential severe weather system come thru here before this.So i'm moving all the deck furniture into the garage, filling the buckets, buying ice, tying down the gas grille, etc. to get ready for whatever happens.I know I would n't want to own property on Long Beach Island right now, that might get wiped out!

Hey jack; I know much about LBI as my grandmother had a house in beach haven west. I've seen the island erode alot just in my 31 years. If its as bad as they say its gonna be with 18'+ waves... I belive the waves will crash right through the island and crest on the bay and lagoons on the east side of the bay... serious stuff to say the least...

I used to spend a lot of time on the island 30 yrs ago and often wondered "what if",well this might be the one.Even those houses built on pilings may not survive 18' waves.

No striper fishing this fall, won't be able to drive down the beach. I've hit the beach there with my fly rod a bunch in November before the steel bug hit.  DB, ever been to Betty and Nick's  bait , tackle and restaurant in BH?One of the best fishing establishments I've ever seen.  Hard to believe the waves would breach the dunes and go into Barnegat. I'm praying  for those poor people who live there. I have many happy memories of crabbing, flounder and bluefishing there when I was a kid.

Live in Central Ct - most of the projections say- right here.
Yesterday- 40 Foot waves and WEEKS without power with a Cat 2 Hurricane
Canceled my trip up cause of the weather here.

TODAY - probably a Tropical storm with a  a lotta rain and windy -waves 4 to 6 feet.
Too late to change plans and go up fishin

      Tomorrow- Cant wait to hear.

wolf wolf wolf wolf wolf aaaaaaaooooooooooooohhhhhhh

If we had a blizzard every time they scare folks into buying extra water and toilet paper we'd have more snow than Tug Hill.

Hey charlie I grew up crabbing off my grandmothers dock for large blue claws on single dropper lines not cages... we caught monsters...my uncle had a boat wed go fluking on from time to time...I've seenthe bait and tackle your talking about but never been in it. I love LBI... too many memories to mention... I actually got married in surf city to mention 1 more... we'll see about the 18' breakers... there's really no claim of what size they're gonna be at this point... but the tides are extra high from our new moon as it is; and no doubt they're gonna get blasted hard.... just gonna have to wait and see... back in 85???? I think it was gloria???? My grandmothers house got 2' of water....on average her housewas about 6' off the water....

Btw; my stepmother and half brother were down at lbi this past week; their trip was supposed to end today but they were evacuated out yesterday morning...
