NO! It won't!

Gentlemen. I'll respond to the question before it is asked. No! The flooding on the east coast, from Hurrican Irene, will NOT make the steelhead "run" to McKean, Sterrettania, Struchen, Folleys, Rt 5, or even in past the Wall. But some stripers may make it over the dam below Harrisburgh.

True, but some heavy downpours late in August could leave the stream mouths on the east side opened up when the fish begin their intitial runs.

Like the rest on here....I'm patiently awaiting my first Steelhead trip of the fall.  Is usually right around Archery season though so hopefully I get something opening day and then have weekends free to fish.

Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

It's August 25th. Walnut hit 300 cfs overnight. Bet there are steelhead past the Wall o Nuts - probably even in Manchester. Probably a handful up to the launch on Elk. Maybe just a few, but I bet they're there.

This morning, very likely. This afternoon, not so much.

Did you personally drag 'em all out on your yellow rope?

Depends on who ya ask...everyone has a "theory".

Personally...I feel like it's the reduction in daylight hours and cooler temps that gives them the urge to run. I have no facts to back this up.

Don't listen to that Indi guy tho...he's more of a bass guy.

I think the hurricane could push an early run.

While water levels, water temp, weather, wind, and moon phases may encourage runs and increase activity, photo-periods are the predominate mechanism that triggers the urge to spawn.
